Quest Rewards: Perks or Training

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:08 am

Would you have liked some (more) quests, specifically guild quests, to reward you not with gold or items but with an additional Perk point or some free training? I know there are some quests, like Ysolda, that give out training, but would you like to have seen more of this, especially with guilds?

For instance, completing a Companion quest would have given you either a free Perk point to put where ever you like or unlocked a specific Perk for you, say like Shield Bash.

Discuss.

It would be an good idea for the vanilla game, but I've modded mine to remove the perk dependancies, so I don't need to waste points on low perks to get higher ones I want. But yes, I think it would be useful for vanilla.

I would very much appreciate this. Money has little to no value very quickly in this game, and I think it would be nice to get rewarded with perks occasionally. They kind of make it sound like you will get a perk when you complete the quest, but instead they just level you up. Which is fine too, but I'd prefer a way to get more perks. Gives me more incentive to do things after progressing to a certain point.

Of course, I don't think these perks should be handed out for going to the store and buying 6 pieces of leather or something. Make it a really difficult quest to balance out the great reward.

Very much agree, only give out Perk rewards to the much harder quests, or at least the larger scale ones.

Yeah, there need to be more of them. I know there's a bunch that give you new perks, but actual perk points would be cool too

In an expansion or something, it would be nice for new perks to show up, plus some additional perk points to go along with it. I despise training rewards because it just scares non skill type users away.

Yes I have thought this many times. Skill points are okay but are too easy to get. A extra perk would be a great reward.

i think getting a free perk point may be overpowered. what i would rather see is a quest which, upon completion, allows you to reassign a previously assigned perk point.

Maybe you should use those Perk points then.

Says the guy who is always complaining that the game is too easy.

No wonder.

I'm sorry you don't understand what game balance is. Why am I not surprised that, again, you make a comment about me and diverge off topic.

I think extra "character" perk points would be cool, like how you could obtain special perks in Fallout 3 by completing quests or achieving other objectives.

I would have liked to have seen something I mentioned where upon completing a quest a particular Perk was unlocked for you. For example, finish out the first main Companion quest and the Companion that was your Follower would unlock a Two Handed Weapon Perk for you, or a Heavy Armor Perk, etc.
