Question about bounty and crime.

Post » Thu Nov 29, 2012 3:12 pm

Hi,

I found myself in a difficult situation, upon leaving Solitude I killed 3 thalmor and I accidently touched the thalmor prisoner that made him attack me, I killed them all and when I got back to Solitude the guards attacked me.

Can the bounty be forgotten if I just leave Haafingar for a long time?

Thanks

I don't think it will be forgotten but if you stay away a bit and go back you may be able to just pay it off to the first guard you see, instead of having them attack you on sight.

Nope, you need to pay it. Stash your stolen items somewhere safe if you have anything of note. If your bounty is particularly large, they will attack on site. If that is the case, I don't know how to rectify it without using the console.

paycrimegold &--#60;Hold ID&--#62; amount &--#60;&--#62; &--#60;&--#62; The last two units refer to losing stolen items and going to jail. 0 signifies No and 1 is yes.

paycrimegold 0002816D £££ 0 0 will pay off the specified bounty amount and allow you to keep stolen items and not go to jail.
paycrimegold 0002816D £££ 1 1 will pay off the bounty and the guards will take your stolen goods and send you to jail. You can switch these numbers around to your choosing.

This is can be targeted also, open the console and click on the guard in question. If you want to do it legit, pay off 80% of the fine via the console then the guards will give you the jail option.

KhaajitDovah...

My brother!

OT, you can't make the bounty go away by leaving, but if you do the guards probably won't attack you, and instead insist on a fine.

Okay I rather pay off my bounty then fight ten thousand guards. I could just finish the war quest and take Solitude, then it will reset

Maybe, I think it depends on how big/bad/numerous your crimes are.

One trick if they do go hostile is the unsheathe your weapon, then put it away again without using it. Sometimes that will cause them to talk to you and offer you options.

Seems like maybe you are playing Stormcloak in the war, though? If so, as you've already noted, you can just finish the CW and after you take Solitide your Haafingar bounty will reset to zero anyway.

no matter how high your bounty is, use voice of empire or the calm spells on a guard and you can go to jail or pay.

Adventure in one of the other holds in the game and wait for a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Bounty_Collector to show up. Expensive but it will clear the bounty for what you've done.

One way to fix the problem with the guards not accepting a yield is to go find some civilian and punch them. This will reset the guards and you will now be able to yield to them.

For instance, I got into a problem with the Whiterun guards somehow. (Can't remember what set them off.) I tried yielding to them but they wouldn't pay attention and kept attacking. So I went to the Whiterun stables, switched to using fists, found some civilian nearby while the guards were attacking me and smacked the civilian. When I lowered my fists the guards finally accepted my yield and I was able to pay off my bounty.
