Question about Dead Thrall..

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:22 pm

If I turn my Master Vampire Dead Thrall into a Volkihar Master Dead Thrall.. and he dies, I can't bring him back, correct? If that's the case, I think it would be more beneficial to keep him as a Master Vampire. What's everyone else's thoughts? Because right now, he really kicks ass. lol A minute ago he and I took out two giants, a mammoth, two bandits, and a saber cat on master difficulty. lol.. Granted he died, but he took a few out and gave me enough time to finish the rest.

You are correct. If you have the necromage perk in the restoration tree, a lvl 48 Volkihar Vampire is the best one that you can rez. If not, a lvl 38 Ancient Vampire would be the best. If you use the jail trick to level them up, save before hand and reload until you get one in armor. It seems to help their survivability even though their armor skill tends to be low. It also give you enchant slots to use if you want to enchant their gear.

EDIT: If it is the lvl 42 Master Vampire you have, I would ditch him/her and get a Volkihar Vampire. There is a HUGE leap between the two. The Volkihar casts Expert-level destruction spells and has about 150 more health than the highest-leveled Master Vampire.

I thought if I enchanted their armor it would take away from my Dark Souls Perk? I enthralled a level 42 Master Vampire since I have the Necromage perk. that is the highest level I can get besides the regular volkihar vamp. I gave my level 42 Master Vamp an Ebony War Axe.. He was using a Elven War Axe that was unenchanted and upgraded.. the Ebony one is enchanted with ice and lightning enchants.. but he doesn't seem to want to use it, even though I took away his elven one.. He's also in mage's robes.. you recommend me giving him armor instead? I mean he's pretty tough.. MUCH tougher than my character lol

I mean he's a spell slinging melee weapon using bad ass.. He decapitates things often, owns them with his axe.. and sticks them full of ice spears and lightning bolts lol.

Yes it does negate Dark Souls, though the perk didn't seem to work for me even with their standard armor. I checked her health with the console and it was just as listed in the guide. They only seem to use melee weapons when in close combat. They are extremely aggressive but prefer medium-distance combat with destruction and life drain. You cannot make them wear anything they didn't spawn with, but if you use the jail trick to upgrade them, they spawn with new, random gear.

And yeah, they are EXTREMELY tough. High-level vampires and Master warlocks are the best thralls, IMO. They are very aggressive and spam destruction spells like it's going out of style. I quit using thralls because the game became too easy.

I turned the difficulty up to Master.. I get two shotted, while my Master Vampire Thrall can tank two giants and a mammoth.. LOL IN the SAME robes as me... So you say upgrading to a Volkihar Vampire will be much better? And if he dies I can bring him back, correct? Or I can turn the Master Vampire into a Master Volkihar Vampire, and not be able to bring him back?

EDIT: Are you sure the Master Vampire Thrall doesn't use Expert level Destruction spells? he seems to use the ice one that sticks in people a lot.. and some form of lightning magic.

Second EDIT: the Wiki also says the vamp will use invisibility, and revenant.. I haven't seen this at all.. Any idea why?

The Volkihar Vampire is level 48, which makes him/her thrallable. Sorry, I confused the spells. Volkihar and Volkihar Masters use Adept-level spells; all others use Apprentice-level spells. Adept spells are the AoE ones, like Ice Storm and Chain Lightning.

Volkihar Vampires are in a different category than the Master Vampires. This page will explain it better than I can: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Vampire_(Skyrim)

So I should perhaps turn this master one into a Volkihar Master Vampire, and use the Volkihar Vampire as my permanent one if the Master dies?

Same for me with the Dremora Twins, since once I have them the only offensive action I ever have to perform is the initial summon. Hell, I can turn them loose in an interior and then go make a sandwich, and when I get back they've cleared the entire cell.

You, too, can tank two Giants and a Mammoth while not wearing armor, provided you dump a lot of points into Health and make good use of '-skin' spells and Wards. The Vampire does it by abusing Vampiric Drain, which is a low-magnitude, but constantly applied, Absorb Health spell. See, unlike our version, his scales, so he's getting double or more the HP per second that we do, at which point it becomes pretty good.

Yeah, I see. I got magicka to 450, the rest of the points from here on are going to be into health.. Level 48 now, at around 300 hp so far.. Is that good?
