Question about DOOM I & II in BFG

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:18 am

I have a quick question, from my understanding, the Classic DOOM games will be launched within the launcher of the BFG Edition, does that mean that my friends on Steam will always see me playing DOOM 3 BFG Editon, or will it change to DOOM I or DOOM II, I am also wondering if mods will work with the BFG versions of DOOM I & II.

Also, is anything changed from the original release of the games, and does the entire BFG package support a controller * I mean DOOM, DOOM 2, DOOM 3, Resurrection of Evil, and The Lost Mission*

On the 360 versions, Xbox LIVE shows DOOM and DOOM II (or DOOM 3 BFG Edition). This is because the versions of DOOM 1 and 2 are based upon the XBLA versions. On PS3 and Steam, it shows DOOM 3 BFG. Keep in mind that the BFG Edition of DOOM 3 is not compatible for multiplayer with previously released versions.

The whole package supports a 360 controller.

We know that the 360 version of Doom 1 and Doom 2 in the Doom 3 BFG edition is based off of the XBLA versions of Doom and Doom 2. If that's the case, and let's say I already bought Doom 1 and Doom 2, when you load up Doom 1 and Doom 2 through the Doom 3 BFG edition launcher, it finds my copy of Doom 1 and Doom 2 that I bought years before through XBL marketplace, and runs that right? How does that really work?

Can you confirm that when buying the PC version, and subsequently the steam version, that Doom 1 and Doom 2 in that version is the exact same as buying the steam version of Doom 1 and Doom 2, that is, the original Dos Executable via Dosbox?

Another question is, which version of Doom 1 and Doom 2 will the PS3 version be based off of? The XBLA version, or it's own version with it's own menu system, completely different from the XBLA version?

It should have the same menu as XBLA version.
