Question about some of the collectibles in Dawnguard (Major

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 6:40 am

So, up to this point I've found quite a few of items that I'm sure are collectable for some sort of reward. Problem is, I'm not sure how many there are, or if the rewards are even worth it.

The items in question-v
- The Paragon Gems found on Frost Giants in The Forgotten Vale
- Jiubs Opus' (Possibly 6 of these?) in Soul Carn
- Unknown Books (I think I read there are 10 of these?) in The Forgotten Vale

Any help with these is appreciated, as I hate missing things and learning later that it was a sweet reward I could have used.

Its cute.

You remember when you first entered the Forgotten Vale?

If you would have kept walking right instead of going towards the quest markers for the shrines you would have found a cave guarded by a Falmer, its in the cave.

The shellbug helmet is almost as good as the Daedric helm

62 compared to the Daedric's 66 (without upgrades and not equipped so perks don't add to them I think) if I recall..and it looks better with the hardened falmer armor set than the actual hardened falmer helm./

Gonna go find him now. I can't find that stinking Gem Portal thingy either.. Found it earlier...

Um, there are ten Jiub's Opus pages (give to Jiub for the book Jiub's Opus and a locket with a nice enchant), and I think either 4 or 6 Unknown Falmer texts.

Edit: Also, two Shellbugs! One in the earlier mentioned cave, but also one in Sharpslope(or whatever its called) cave, near the Glacial Crevice.

You can turn in each of the four Falmer books in to Urag for 1000 gold and a translated copy.

Been in both caves and didn't find either one of em. A section of The Vale Cave is blocked off and I can't reach it. I must have missed the one in Sharpslope cave.

Oh that is right!

The last two of their kind.

Its a morality choice to kill one for helm or both...if you kill one the other will die eventually and then they'll extinct since you'll kill its only mate.

The cave I mentioned the Forgotten Vale cave I believe its called, when you enter you see a ledge and a straight path, go up the ledge and pull the rope/chain on the wall to reveal the hidden area.

The Shellbugs will respawn if you kill them. There are little pull levers that you activate to get to where they are.

I figured there was one but I couldn't find it. A rope I mean.

There are 10 pages of the Opus, scattered around the Soul Cairn.

I was also told you can kill the Grim reaper in the soul cairn but I don't recall where and I was told he drops nothing good.

This is unrelated to my first post (Somewhat) but can I get the Vampire Lord rings/necklaces post MQ? Because I assume I have to kill Harken and the Vampires aren't gonna like that... I just got Auriels Bow btw, I've been taking my time and exploring.

You can, I believe. Just like Dawnguard members can still obtain xbox schematics and such.

If you side with the Vampires they approve of you killing Harkon and declare you as second in command...Serana becomes the leader of the Volkihar clan...even though she follows you and you make all the decisions..lol..though everyone expected that so its not really a spoiler.

Do the radiant quests for the Volkihar..they can be done by talking to some of the Vampires and asking how you can help, save after completing each radiant quest incase a glitch happens with one of the radiant quest givers..

Alright, thank you, I assumed thats how you got them but I'm too caught up in the MQ right now. I've done around three of them so far.

If your character is married you'll get a quest to turn your wife into a Vampire from said quest givers...which is always fun, I wanna see what Vampire Lydia looks like..haven't done it yet.

You also get chalice of blood or w/e its called upgrades and blood potions..there are two artifact quests..one for the two rings and one for the two necklaces.

Potions of Blood are great collectibles since Feeding is useless now, the Werewolf Pelt is 1 of a kind, the Bone Hawk Ring is also unique as it is not craftable

You're assuming they reproduce sixually, we have no idea how they reproduce. Magic is probably involved.
