Question about the new housing

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:27 am

Hi all,

To the beta Testers and gamers who had played so far.
Could someone tell me if you own one of the 2 new castles, are the custumitation options more advanced than a regular house?

Thanks

Ah! I knew this would come up. No, we really got shafted. Both new bases go under minimal upgrades, none of which you mandate. There are no new "homes", really, just faction bases.

This was a huge issue in the Beta. I am afraid that there are very limited upgrades. Just one for the Castle V and a few crafting stations for Fort D.

The PC will not receive the Well Rested bonuses from either after fully obtaining the place.

EDIT : Ah! Ninj'd by the evil sweetroll...Har Har Har...

Soooooo.....

The two big castles are nothing but big settings for you to do bugger-all in?

And we still can't move into the lesser holds, nor can we build our own property outside of the cities?

Any other big house-related disappointments I should know about?

Castle Volkihar, you can't add ANYTHING. Dawnguard gets some more stuff, but from what I hear, it's pretty barren as well.

He also said Skyrim would have a realistic economy...

And before LongKnife can do it:

Sorry about that, but this song's been stuck in my head for a while.

You can clean up the rubble leading to the courtyard, and add an alchemy garden. That's about it. Granted, I still spend quite a bit of time at the castle. Probably more than my own house.

Do you have personal bedchambers? To store Items as well?

Yes...There aren't any big houses.

No, this was put under a microscope in the Beta. He said "trick out" that can be taken several ways, but essentially it just comes down to placing things on shelves and adding clutter.

Man, talk about a major gaffe. All this time Bethesda could have been talking about how we can trick out the plains in Whiterun by just dumping crap on the ground.

Talk about a missed opportunity.

On the decorating note: Is decorating still the incredible pain it was before?

Probably. Personally, I'm gonna port this to PC and do some remodeling with the console commands.

It svcks. I remember in a thread I made a while back, talking about ideas for morrowond-style strongholds / mansions, (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1379622-we-should-get-strongholds-thread-2/page__pid__20898932#entry20898932) that most people seemed to think that the castles would be like that, especially since Todd Howard said we could make our own and "trick them out". A lot of people are dissapointed by this revelation.
