question: Dragonborn role in Dawnguard

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 1:34 am

Well i gotta question,

Im asking this because i want to roll a new character and prepare him for putting down vamps, and he's not keen to be a chosen one (with mods help),
So how much "Derpakiin" role is important/mentioned in the DLC?

Theres no real reference to you being dovahkiin in dawnguard.

Spoiler
Durnahviir calls you quanariin or something like that after you slay him. So even he doesnt recognize you as dovahkiin.

Apparently he does if you've gotten to a certain point in the MQ, you might even have had to kill Alduin.

IF you kill Alduin. Yes you can learn a shout, but so can Ulfric Stormcloak and he isnt Dovahkiin.

Yes you can start dawnguard without touching the main quest.

This bugged me as well.... They have no clue who I am for the most part. I expected to play a greater role, but its really no big deal. Loving this DLC.

Actually you need to do the MQ up until getting the Elder Scroll in order to complete the Dawnguard MQ so yes, you need to do the base MQ

No you dont. You can just go straight to Septimus Signus Outpost. OOR Serana will tell you to try the college. You can pick up from there

Yeah, it can get a bit confused - when looking for one scroll, you might get a journal entry telling you you're getting it for Parthinaax, even though you might not have met him yet... Haven't tried continuing the MQ to see what happens when I get to that part after doing Dawnguard.

Actually Durnehviir refers to you as a fellow dovah, but if you ask him why he says it was just instinct for him to do so.

This is only if you haven't done the MQ

She has one, her mother has one, and the one in the dwemer ruin.

Serana will confront you and talk to you about the latter two and suggest stopping at the college of winterhold for the dragon scroll and you get redirected to septimus signus. NO MQ.
