Question: How to change the character's speed using the CK?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:00 am

I'll cut straight to the question instead of giving a boring background story of why I'm asking it.

Could someone give me a step-by-step guide how to change the speed of the player actor using the CK?
Can it be achieved by using the console commands instead? If so, does it need to be re-entered every time you play Skyrim?

Cheers,

Spoiler
Edit: Chang = Change.

The console command to change the speed of the player is:
 Player.ModAV SpeedMult (Value)
Replace value with the number you want to increase or decrease the player's speed by. I'm not sure if you have to enter this every time I just know that's one of the ways to do it in console commands.

Thanks, I'll test it right away.

Edit: When I put 2 there I couldn't see any difference. When I put 200 it didn't become 200 times as fast, maybe about 10 times as fast? What would the number I need to insert be for the character to be 33% faster?

Hmm, putting 3 there seems to make it 33% faster.

Speedmult base is 100. 200 would be twice as fast.

Oh yeah, a forewarning... If you jack it up too high, the cell buffer won't be able to keep up with your insane speed in exterior worldspaces and you may end up crashing the game.

It's always good to see what an actor value's current value is before altering it. Use the console command "getav speedmult" in your case.

Others that may interest you" FireResist, FrostResist, ElectricResist, DamageResist, UnarmedDamage". Additionally, your health, stamina, and magicka are all actor values, as are all your skill values. If you want to get a base actor value, unaltered by magic effects, use "GetBaseActorValue" instead of "getav" I think that weapon enchantment mana also becomes an actor value upon equip of an enchanted weapon, but the names of those AVs don't come to mind readily.

Do you know if the console-command changed speed is saved, so when you continue playing Skyrim a week after using the command, the speed mutliplier is still there?

It will. I have my horse set to have a 25% boost to speed and it's sticking.

Thanks :) I'm using the better horses mod for faster horses. With fast-travel disabled, the horses with better horses and extra carriages with the "more carriages" mod provide enough movement alternatives to not be tedious. :)
