Question on Mage and level for DLC

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:56 pm

1) I have been wanting to do a pure mage but always heard about not scaling good - has this been addressed or is it a non-issue.
2) I know that you have to talk to the Greybreard to get the quest for the Horn then go to a city. But will lower level Chatacters do good - or just get FUBAR'ed.

It would scale well in destruction without cheats and higher level would be better think 30 plus

i've come across a mask that improves shocks spells (damage), so i think it's safe to assume there's one for each element. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

It's tough a low levels. Doable, but tough.

Lower levels are fine. Just don't fight Karstaag.

New Dragon Priests are rough, too.

I am a sorceress as my main character. Level 24 with destruction, conjuration, restoration and illusion. I play at adept, and even with Lydia and helpers from conjuration, I had to go down to apprentice. Other than that, I have found that dual destruction works fine, but one must have helpers. I use the atronach's and they are very usesful.

I had trouble fighting Karstaag but with fire and a fire atronach and Lydia I put him down. The new dragon priests are harder, but the masks are worth the trouble. One is for boosting fire, one is for boosting frost and one is for boosting shock.

Outside of having to go from adept to apprentice, I am havinf very little trouble. Just that the fights are a little longer, which is fine by me.

I play pure mage on adept. I just have to not get hit by jumping off walls. I also use the Apocalypse spell mod, which adds a bunch of balanced spells.

very cool ;)

pure mages are hard to play, especially at lower levels on solstheim as the baddies on the island seem tougher then the one's on skyrim, especially the dragon priests. As others have said it's do-able but you might want to beef up your skills in skyrim a bit before taking the boat
