Question regarding adding mods without steam

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 2:33 am

Will it be easy to get the mods people make without steam? Like TES Nexus or similar sites, because I don't like the Steam layout and would like it if I could just take the files and put them into the game. This is my first TES on PC so I'm not sure how I would put the mod files into the game.]

Thanks for the help.

Yep, it's definitely easy once you get used to it. It's just a matter of putting the right files where you're told to. Almost every mod you download will come with a readme that will tell you exactly where the files need to go.

It isn't as easy, but really it's easy either way. A drawback of steam is that newer people won't learn about how to install mods manually and conflict detection and all t hat until it's too late and there's a problem. I think it's best to handle installation yourself with most mods. It's fine to use the workshop -- I do, for simple mods -- but for complex mods, and also just to get a feel for it, you should get used to manual installation.

It's just like Gamemaster35 said, very easy once you get used to it. You can also use the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/content/modmanager/ to autmate most of the process with most mods now. You just download it then when you see a mod you want you can click the "Download with manager" button and after it's downloaded you just go into the "mods" tab of the manager and click the button that looks like a puzle peice with a green arrow on it. I think you need to be loged into Skyrim Nexus to see the "Download with manager" botton though.
