Does it have the animal actually follow you or just stop it from combat.

I was really anticipating upto a group of companion of animals to roam around with or secure a mega fight. i.e... wolves/sabertooths for versus giants and mammoths.

It only seems to idle out the animal from combat, and then wander off on its own. Does the animal have its own character traits of aggression or patrolling.

It's an AoE so, any number of creatures in the radius will be effected. However, it only lasts for 60 sec and can only be used once a day.

Any animal in the area will fight for you for 60 seconds,however they will not follow you.
It's usefull at low levels or for fighting giants to get there mammoths to fight for you.

The animals have to be in the vicinity of the combat area before useing it because they will not follow you to a combat area.

Not sure what the radius is. I am playing my first ever...in all of TES, Bosmer. Ever since I found out they were cannibalistic...

She used it once in a cave while being attacked by three spiders and two Draugr.

I think it's rather large and set to effect level 99 animals.
