Questions about Skyrim inventory and Damage

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 4:07 am

I am looking for some help, this is my first expierience with the Elder Scrolls series.

Charachter: Nord, lvl 5, with 30 skill in one-handed weapon, 2 pirks invested in one-headed weapon, and 1 magical item that gives 25% additional one-handed dmg.

1) I am in my Weapons inventory scrolling through various weapons, I see a base number plus a Green positve or Red negative number in parentheses, ie Steal Mace 22 (+9). What does the mean? Does it mean that if I equip that weapon I will be doing 31 Damage, which to me doesn't make any sense as I already have that equiped, so how can I do an additional 9 damage? Or does that +9 mean that with my skill level in One-handed weapons, Pirks and Magical items I am doing an addition 9 damage? But that does make much sense either as I picked up a Steal axe that when I hover my mouse over it reads 22(+4), if the have same base damange wouldn't it be +9 as well?

2) Is there a better Inventory in the game or maybe a Mod, One that only list what is equiped? Would be nice if it broke things down like dmg and amor rating, such as what is the base dmg\armor, increase form pirks, increase from skills, increase from enchanted items, and then final total. Also would be nice if it would tally all magical items, ie, total % increase for one-handed dmg from all items? Is there one that anyone recommends?

Found this post with the search option. I'm also wondering how the + and - works with damage. Anybody knows exactly?

Well the OP probably isn't coming back, but to answer the questions for the other new guy:

1) The number in parentheses represents the change from what you have currently equipped. So if the mace says Damage: 22 (+9), it means that you currently have a weapon equipped that does 13 physical damage.

2) There are mods for PC that change the way the inventory/UI are organized. I don't know of any that function the way that you describe, because that sounds incredibly cluttered and confusing.

+ and - basically mean the selected armor piece or weapon has better/worse damage/armor rating than what you have equipped.
The number after it indicates the difference between the stats aka, 20+9 would mean that you have a weapon with 20 damage equipped, while having a 29 damage weapon selected.
Hope I helped in any way.

Edit: Already answered in the post above.

The number in brackets is the difference in damage between the weapon you have equipped and the weapon you are currently viewing.

E.g. If you have a sword with 100 damage equipped, and you select a sword with 70 damage in your inventory, you will see (-30) next to the weapon to say that it does 30 less damage than the one you have equipped.

The damage is calculated after your bonuses and skills are applied to both weapons.
