So im playing my second runthrough and came across a bone charm that said something like "you encounter more white rats" or something along those lines.

I had noticed there were white/brown rats but just figured it was to add diversity...but aparently white rats do something different? what is it?

is there an easer way to get rid of rats? I find myself just slashing at them with my blade when hordes of them show up and corner me on a box.

White rats are good if you have certain bone charms, but I think they come with the assassin pack dlc. One charm makes them friendly, one charm lets you eat them, and one lets you possess them longer.

I either do as you do, hope on a box and swing, blink away, or throw an explosive bottle at them. You can also possess one and run away as it, but blink is easier.
