Questions concerning the console version's Mutiplayer

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:49 pm

With this new BFG Edition being released for both PS3 and XBOX 360, Ive had a lot of questions running through my head lately. I played the xbox version of Doom 3 off and on for about 4yrs, needless to say I know the Multiplayer like the back of my hand. When I heard that the ROE expansion pack was going to be included in the BFG Edition, I've been hoping that maybe with this version they can fix some issue's that the XBOX version had.

-Since the original Doom 3 max player limit was 4 on XBOX as well as ROE, will the max player limit on consoles be upgraded to 8 like it was on the PC version?

- Will the console version be getting Capture the Flag, since that too was added to the PC version when ROE was released?

-Will we be getting the Plazma Gun this time around?

-Will we have the ability to shoot open doors?

-Is the Shotgun still going to be severely nerfed again?

-Will the console maps be exactly the same as the XBOX version? Most of them were pretty cut up compared to the PC version of the maps.

Any answers I could get from the devs would be greatly appreciated! Ive been a die hard D3 fan since the day I first got my hands on the game so no matter what I know ill be playing this game for a LONG time! Thanx again! :)

Can't wait for this game on ps3 as well as 360!
To keep the questions going:

-Any chance for dedicated servers on the concolse versions?

-How will the RoE expansion be handled MP wise on consoles? (Will the base Doom 3 be on a seperate disc from RoE? or how exactly is the expansion going to be implemented into the MP)

-Will ps3 and 360 users have the option to customize our controls instead of being forced to use the pre-set options? (This is a must in my mind and since Q4 on 360 allowed players to do this I hope D3 BFG console follows suit)

-There will be a server list as opposed to matchmaking correct?

Everyone feel free to add to the list of ?'s and hopefully we can get some kind of answers from the devs...PLZ!!! :)

-Will the chainsaw remain in the multi-player like the XBOX version if the plasma gun were to get added?

-Will the original Doom 3 res maps all be included in the console versions as? As I do believe they weren't.

-This kind of goes with the other question, The XBOX version of doom 3 res had a different set of maps I believe weren't in the PC version. Will these maps be in the doom 3 bfg edition as well as the original pc maps?

-Will the Double barrel be included in doom 3 maps as well as doom 3 res maps?

-When the player dies in the xbox version he kinda evaporates, in the PC version He basically gibs or turns to a skeleton, Will the Doom 3 Bfg edition Have What the Pc version had and the player gibs? ( not really a big question I know just interested  )

-Will Single Player have all the maps the pc had? I know the xbox Was Kind of cut up a little.

-Also will there be a leaderboard that shows overall and all time instead of the xbox's annual leaderboard? ( because the stats would reset every year )

-Will coop Contain all the maps in the single player? the Xbox version of the coop was dumbed down.

-Will Doom 3 Res have coop Aswell?

-Would We see a Bfg or grabber in multiplayer at all? ( I know its a dumb question But hey I minus well toss it out there. )

-Is there any new game modes In doom 3 bfg edition?

Also my bad bird, i asked single player questions in here :P.

This is edition is referred to as 'remastered'. To me that sounds like a port of the PC 1.3.1.1304 code base to 360 and PS3, enabling the suit mounted flashlight code that already existed in the RoE expansion back (but was never used) and maybe adding some other tweaks here and there, depending on what 'enhanced graphics' means. Add some new maps and 'job done'.

Fixing all the things that are wrong with the MP side of things would be a lot of work, relativlely speaking. But who knows, maybe the QuakeLive guys have been let loose on it; I do recall someone at id saying that the team would help out other projects with networking related things.

My expectation for this release is actually NO multiplayer at all, but I hope that they prove me wrong.

One thing i'm curious about is if the co-op campaign will return. if it does i'm hoping it will be split-screen too. Maybe even 4 player split-screen for co-op campaign, that would be interesting.
