2 Questions pertaining to Honest Hearts

Post » Sun Dec 19, 2010 7:40 pm

So, i started a new character Sunday, thinking that I would be able to reach the new DLC by Tuesday, but, do to prior engagements and playing the game slowly so I can feel like I am in the game, I was not. I have two questions

  • First: What is the level suggestion for Honest Hearts?
  • Second: Without being too specific, what is the best part of the DLC?

I my opinion, there is no "recommended level" that I could suggest; I went there right out of Goodsprings and was able to complete it without difficulty. Also the best part, for me, was the new items you'll encounter as you go.

1. Honest Heart scales very well to the player's level so you can go in at any level. Be aware you need to be prepared to deal with quite a few Cazadors and Yao Guais though.

2. Scenery(gameworld), crafting/survival, exploring, a certain unmarked quest that relates to certain computer terminals.

I went in at level 33 and found the enemies toughish, so given what Stevais said, level doesn't matter, maybe early is better because they're hardly wearing anything and seem to have bullet proof skin when you're high level.

The best thing for me way the completeness of the story, which isn't spelt out but only becomes apparent if you listen to everyone and read all the notes and terminals. What emerges is touching and intriguing, like one of the stories you get from some of the vaults but much deeper and complete.

1. Level 12, so you can have silent running and good sneak and whatever level you must get to in order to acquire a massive collection of stealth boys.
2. Talking to The Burned Man.

I went at very low level as well (lvl4) with a slow-leveling mod (I only gained 4 more lvls doing the whole DLC).

There's one side quest that is/can be pretty tough at low level because your weapon skills will be low, with few Perks chosen yet, among other things, especially if you play on Very Hard. (I'm not sure about Normal, I didn't play that). The very endgame of the DLC also could be tough depending on what you've done chr. wise as you level up + your approach (not using VATS, for example...). But the rest is the average difficulty or cake & pie, depending on your point of view.

Edit:Oh and imo, best part of DLC was exploration/roaming factor and companions, tho the dialogue of some of the other chrs are nice to listen to once.

I went 34 and had great fun. :) Beware of cazadores as other said. 2-3 times they almost jumped on my face, thank god the V key and swift shot in their face with antimaterial rifle. :D

1. It's level scaled so take any character you'd like.

2. Rain!

1. Doesn't really matter unless you use only Energy Weapons, in which case you should be leveled a little and stock up on ammo.
2. Wrecking people with the third companion you'll encounter.

I went in at level 35, my first time, and I only had to use 7 stimpaks, that is all, no chems or doc. bags. But I did have to use a few antivenoms.
I killed everybody with ease. My Marksman Carbine killed multiple amounts of White Legs with no problem. In the end my Mar. Car. did not kill S-U-Ws, Joshua Graham did the excecution with his A Light Shining in Darkness pistol, it is the best pistol I have used yet.

I went in at level 7 my second time and I also had no problem with the white legs and most animals, only a few stimpaks used, as I have not completed HH on this playthrough.
So there is not a specific level requirement for HH.

The best part about Honest Hearts is the new guns and armor, and the new ammo type. Zion Valley itself is a beautiful sight. When I get up to "The Spine", I see this amazing view of Zion. The Virgin River, the canyons, the trees and the wildlife make Zion a place to be. Fresh Water in the river, no radiation anywhere, just some giant mutated black bears and blue and orange flying, poisonous bug, and lastly, some green geckos that poison you with their vomit.
The new characters are excellent also. Especially Joshua Graham, he was the best character in my opinion.
Oops, I was too specific.

I've figured out that there's actually an "official" level recommendation hidden in the DLC. When you talk to Stella, if you're lvl7 or below, she'll comment that you're a little green. But if you're lvl8 or above she'll comment that you look like you can handle yourself. So the hidden guideline is basically lvl8 and up.

I went in at level 30, and in 12 hr playtime, I leveled 3 times (leveling mod), used one stimpak (crippled limb), and died twice (fell off a cliff almost as soon as I got there, and got jumped by three giant green geckos) :swear:

EDIT: My favorite part of the DLC was the survivalists story.

Yes my favorite part was the survivalists story too
if they had made a DLC after him it would still probably beat HH and DM by far
