My quests do not work anymore

Hi how can I do tofix my quests?

My quest where set up in a chain event so one ending triggered the start of the other , but all had to start with the final stage of the main quest ...

it used to work fine until lDawnguard updated the game and now the courier that was arriving befoure do not arrives anymore ...

Also when I loaded places at half stage of the quest there is nothing ...

I tried to make the quest start by setstage ingame and nothng happens ...

also the dialogues when I tested some time befoure at the first patch release but befoure dawnguard for pc lost all their timing and got reverted to instantspeedy dialogues flashing for less than a second under the screen ...

Prometheus, are any of your quests "Start-Game-Enabled"???

If they are, then this might be the Dialogue-Bug.

The workaround for that is:

Start a New Game
Save that game immediately
Exit to Main Menu
Load the Save


(It does not always fix the bug for everyone, but it is worth a go ... IF you have any Start-Game-Enabled Quests)

I cant start a new game my quest needs to start after the MQ103 wich is the final stage of the main quest , I need that save game level and also is set for a player of level 25 or higher .... how can I do so ?

In the console - at the MAIN MENU - type:

coc Whatever-Cell-Name-You-Want-To-Go-To

So coc WhiteRunAttackStart03 ... will put you near the Giant and Companions fight ... With a template Nord Chacter (with a few weapons and so forth).

this method starts a brand new game, everytime, but does not go through all of the start stuff

HOWEVER: Because it does not do the start (carriage ride etc) the game-world is in a bad state when you do this trick. But, just for testing, it ensures you are not getting any dirty-save or similar issues in your testing.

Because your mod needs to check the status of other vanilla quests, this makes it doubly hard for you ... but you can use the workarounds to test how/if your stuff is starting (as I linked above).

I did

coc WhiteRunAttackStart03

player.setlevel 30

SetStage MQ305 300 ( nothinghappens )

so I do from MQ301 in sequence up to 304 that ends the MQ 304 and starts the MQ305

now the MQ305 ends at 200 but I need the 300 stage to be completed because is when you are sent back to sovngarde anyway that's the result ...

I managed to tp to sovngarde directly and apply the same stuff , this time the MQ quest stage got working but still setting MQ 205 300 didn't make start my quest :( ...

Ok I was able to go to sovngarde set to MQ305 200 and then 300 , then teleport to Skyrim mainland again , and all of a sudden the courier arrives , but was not the one I needed is the dawnstart quest ...

So I enter the city and exit again then I check the stage of my quest and is still at 0 ... It just didn't start , my stage shoudl start as after the MQ305 is completed, if the player is Above the 25 level and if I change location ,. I fullfilled all the settings but still no works ...

now befoure patches and all everything worked fine , the quest started fine and I didn't even need a fresh new PC ...

so what is the problem here what can it be and why is not working ? NOW I am even more clueless...

I don't know mate, hopefully someone else can help. This bug does extend other things than just dialogue though according to some reports. Like SayOnce dialogue being repeated, Scenes and SM events not working properly, and Aiases failing to fill.

well
The main problem is I have a LOT of scenes and aliases in my quest structure but those come after the start of the quest anyway , so I am aware that the rest of the quest would not work still but at least I could be more cool about the thing that the game has a bug and so my quest don't start for this instead than searching other possible solutions and for an error in my quest ... because all this happened after I installed dawnguard . or the patch , I am nt sure ... surely it's in corispondence of that ...
I had to uninstall all mods , delete the data folder ( well move in another place ) and install picking one by one the things that didn't prevent dawnguard to work ... actually I had only my mod and some others , I saw my mod did not conflict with Dwnguard so I left only that ...
Tough the quests do not start anymore ...
thinking it could have been a script thing I repositined the whole scripts folder I had backed up ... now the quests all have again the scripts fragments ... but still do not start...

Now my quest starts with a courier and it was quite a mess to follow that tuorial for the courier to make it work , but finally it did work fine ...

With the totally new brand game I saw that the first thing I got when changing location was the courier arrive , tough it was not from my quest but from the Dawnstar quest starting ... mine instead , despite I had all conditions filled like >25 level , changing locations , MQ105 completed , nothing happened ...

Now I wanted to know if someone can confirm or could test if the "custom made couriers events" using the vanilla courier do work or have a problem for that bug ...

Your problem is the GetQuestCompleted condition in your SM Event Node. You're going to have to use a workaround and check for a GetStageDone on a particular stage in MQ305.

GetQuestCompleted is completely broken and always returns a 0. It's not related to the dialogue issues, though it seems to have become more of a problem since Patch 1.7.

befoure 1.7 worked , so the get quest completed in the events of the change location type is supposely broken with the patch and so part of the dialogue bug?

PErhaps I could try get stage condition?

GetQuestCompleted is broken, period. It makes no difference whether you're using it in the story manager, in dialogue conditions, or AI packs. It also has nothing to do with the dialogue bug. This is a totally separate thing.

Yes, using GetStageDone, or a GetStage check, will fix it. I had to change one to that in order to fix one of Bethesda's own quests that's now broken because of it.

I have tried the getstage MQ305 , I got the confirmation that the quest was at 300....

now in the SM event I had replaced the getquest completed ( that befoure the patch for me worked ) with a getstage MQ305 == 300 ...

that shoudl in theory work , but it didn't I still got the dawnguard messenger arrive , then I decided to wait 2 days , get in and out of whiterun , but that messenger got stuck in the streets of Whiterun idleing and doing nothing , so my quest did not start ....

What can that be ? still something I am doing wrong or perhaps this damn dialogue bug?

I THINK that it is the Dialogue Bug, Prometheus. It is just so similar.

But there is no real way you can know for certain. None of us know - for certain - whether the problems we are having are down to that bug, or something else. But, if dialogue is not firing and or packages are not running (especially travel to location packages) then we are all ASSUMING it is down to the dialogue bug.

I think you have checked everything you can and still it does not start - So, for the sake of your own sanity, I would now put it down to this bug and continue with something else, until Beth fixes the issue.

Mmmm ok I hope they will give some info , what is annoying is that Beth doesn't reveals any roadmap on what they are doing , or if they are going to fix anything or else ...
