Quests that requre a level up?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:48 am

I just realized recently that the quest Wolf queen awakened requires you to level up to trigger the quest and was forced to start a new character just to get it because I was at the level 81 cap. I think that's a pretty lame design to require a level up and exclude people who're too highly leveled from getting the quest.

I was curious, are there are any other known quests that have a similar requirement?
Are there any other quests that have complicated miss-able requirements?

If I'm already restarting, I don't want to miss more quests after hitting 81 all over again.

You mean you did not realize how hollow an achievement of getting to Level 81 is the first time?

AFAIK, this is the only quest that requires a level up. There are other quests that have level requirements, but once reached, you can do the quest at any time.

I'm somewhat OCD and I'm a completionist, so I generally level to the max right off in any game. I enjoy being powerful and all that, really didn't expect the game to restrict you from a quest due to level. I have no idea if that was an oversight in development or a deliberate design choice.

I'll be glad if that's the only mission like that, thanks for the reply. :3

Wow. I've never heard of anything like that in any game. :o I've played plenty, but I've never heard of or noticed anything like this.

AFAIK, you also have to level up after talking to Mjoll in order to get the Grimsever quest (as well as possibly being at a certain point in the MQ). So, in terms of quests that require a level-up to trigger, I'm going with: Wolf Queen Awakened and Grimsever's Return.

I had heard that was one as well so I investigated it, I didn't get the option to return her weapon until I was thane of Riften, not sure if that's related or not but it was at the same time.

On the UESP at least, there seems to be some discussion as to what exactly is required to trigger this quest, so "thane-hood(?)" may be a factor.

Yeah, I had leveled up and done many quests around Riften and she didn't give me the option to do the quest, so I thought maybe becoming Thane would get her to think better of me since she's all about cleaning up that town. Then it worked, so I figured that's what it was.

Mjoll's quest required me to level up before I could initiate it. I did not bother with any Riften thane missions at that point.

Besides that, I haven't run into another quest with such a requirement.

Once the player reaches level 14, they may find her sword in Mzinchaleft and return it, with or without speaking to her before.

Quests that require a level up to trigger:
-Boethia's Calling (level 30)
-The Cursed Tribe (level 9)
-the rumor required to start "The Whispering Door" (level 20)
-The Break of Dawn (level 12)
-Grimsever's Return (level 14)
-Unfathomable Depths (level 14)
-The Wolf Queen Awakened (level 10)

"The Wolf Queen Awakened" is the only one of those that requires anything other than simply being high enough level (that "The Man Who Cried Wolf" is completed and the player is not in Solitude), and so is the only one that might never trigger if the player reaches the maximum level.

I don't know if that's the case because I put off the MQ for a loonnng time on my chick. I did Grimsever's Return pretty early on because I did the DB and TG quests way before doing much in the MQ. That being said, I was at A Blade in the Dark when first went to Riften so maybe I was far enough. :P

Can't you just do all the quests, like, after you hit level 50 but before you hit level 81.

Well there are so many quests to do, odds are you're going to run into a few that you've never even seen by the time you reach 81.
I don't want to purposefully keep from leveling for fear of missing a quest or two.
