Quick question ? First expansion

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:10 pm

Hello everyone! I posted this in another thread but was ignored. I just had a quick question about my game once I purchase Dawnguard. I am sure this will probably sound like a really noob question.

I have played Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and GTA IV without playing any expansions whatsoever.

I don't create multiple files in games, I almost always just use my one file(of course I make backup saves).

I have been playing Skyrim for about 7 months now, I'm not very far into the Civil War quest. I am taking my sweet time with this game. I want to get Dawnguard today, but I want to make sure I can get to Dawnguard when I want.

Will it simply add an area "where Dawnguard is" sort of thing? Will I load it and instantly be thrown into new action where something dramatically alters my Civil War quest line? Will the quest I'm currently on be interfered with?

I apologize if these are often asked questions.

I want to be able to finish what I was doing before jumping right into Dawnguard business, but I also want to get the expansion to check it out a bit and change my character in the Ratway.

Thanks for any answers!

This is what i have heard (consider it unconfirmed but fairly certain): Basicly it will be new areas, your current saves will not be magicaly teleported or anything, you can just hear "rumors" in the world that leads to the new questline.

To my understanding DG adds a new area to the map u can go to whenever you want. So it won't mess with your quest. As far as I know.

(As shown on the pinned threads) Ask a Guard and he will give you a rumor to start it. Not sure if the NDA allows me to say more. :/

That's exactly how I'd like it. :) I'm on several quests at the moment and my destination is Riften, I hope to try out the character edit person.

If I can be vague, you can download it and the integration will be seamless. Should have no adverse affects...save for one thing, maybe, heh...so feel free to download it immediately.

Don't worry, this is actually a good question.

From all the past DLC from Oblivion and Fallout 3, they were all set up to where you could learn about the quest but you wouldn't have to start them until you're ready. Basically just like any quest already in Skyrim. My guess is that's the way it's going to be set up.
