[REQ] Quicker walk, and run while aiming, and better scopes

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:04 am

It irritates me greatly that, while aiming, my character slows to a crawl. The game is already super slow to begin with, but i think it would make it far more intensive if you could run while aiming. Perhaps not even a full speed run, but up the pace a little.

Also, walking for me is too slow. If some one could bump it up by about 20% that would be nice. already got the faster running pack (the x5 one, worked nice)

Scopes right now have only a what, 2x zoom? how lame. The scope i slapped on my rifle was huge, and when i looked down it i was surprised and dismayed. I think that the scopes should have different grades personally, but atleast be a 3x, up to 6x. 6x is abit intensive though for the game, but it would make those long range shots a bundle easier.

Also, the way the scope looks needs to change. I think its actually off a bit, because i've had the crosshairs right on the target, and missed. I suggest to thin the crosshairs out ( in the center).

A few things i'm also missing from fallout 3 are the sun glasses(cant remember the pack name)

The badass, long black trench coat from the enclave officer i cant remember his name, but you found him on mothership zeta.

You cannot aim well while running. unless you want unbearable sway and near blindness while aiming and running, its not a good idea. just hipfire while running, supressive fire so you can move up and aim correctly.

How'd i know some one was gana point this out. I know you cant fire properly while running, doesnt mean you cant hold it properly... Perhaps with a rifle i might hip fire while moving, but pistols theres no reason.

My thing is i just dont want to feel trapped the second i stair down the sights. It would bode well if you had drastically reduced accuracy while hasting.

I actually tend to feel trapped in general when i'm not running. Perhaps just a small movement boost (like half of an actual run) would do with a moderate sway (no precise shots to be had here, but could still hit the target)

You think running is slow? From what I've seen so far in videos it's incredibly fast. Maybe not. Guess I'll find out myself tomorrow.

Have you ever tried looking down a weapon's sights while running? It's pretty [censored] hard. SHOOTING while doing that is out of the question. You'd be lucky to hit the side of a barn. In that sense, it makes a lot of sense to have the auto-slowdown. Realistically, you just plain can't move fast and look down sights reliably unless you are amazingly agile.

Even so.. try keeping your eye aligned (or the sights lined, as with ironsights)

It's nearly impossible. You're better off using the weapon itself to aim ("from the hip")... unless you have those fancy parallax free sights. Even then it's still not good, those just let you require much more quickly.

In short, all those other FPS games you consider 'correct' are actually lying to you.

answer = yes

You dont use the sight, you just aim the gun. Which isnt the point btw, but I'm not talking a full on sprint here either, and yes it does make it considerably more difficult, but firing from the hip is little more the directed wildfire, something you do when you cant bring the gun up. Atleast when the gun is infront of you, you know its going somewhere straight... Hip fire, for me especially, feels exceedingly unintuitive, and it just feels bad to me in game. I'm not asking for perfect zomfg sniper accuracy while sprinting or something, i just wana be able to hold the gun ahead of me when i fire w/o being locked down. Even IRL you'd atleast TRY and aim if you had to run and fire...

Again though, this isnt the point, and the concept is obviously a problem for some people, so if you disagree with it, fine, but stop flooding my topic with useless downplay. I know i could just "pretend" that this problem doesnt exist, but i dont want to. I like having my gun in front of me when I fire. Its how i like my games, end of story. All I'd like to see is if some one thinks they could do it...
