Quietest MP on Xbox Live

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 10:46 am

Is it me or does nobody talk in this game? I'm so used to COD and Halo matches where the smacktalk is never ending, this game throws me off with its silence. Really hurts Team matches since there is no team work.

Of course, me and my friends have all sorts of problems with squad chat working (it seems very spotty at best), and we end up going into party chat as a result, so it may be more of a game issue than a community issue.

I don't mind the lobby silence, but its kind of pointless in team matches when your own team doesn't say a word. I've tried to get some team talk going, but nobody participates, so anymore I just turn the mic off.

As annoying as the Halo & COD blather can be, at least you know the players are taking an interest in the match (if only to call you racial slurs and make annoying noises).

The only time I've heard people talk in this game was to scream into their mics because they were getting their asses kicked. I kind of like the silence of this game as it lets me concentrate and I can listen to my music without someone talking over it.

BFBC2 is the quietest game online. You don't even have the option to talk to the other team unless you message them.

Probably more of a reflection of the type of demographic that play this, i.e. not younger kids.

Honestly, there is more than enough feedback through your HUD and sound cues to let you know what's going on. Though, I play mostly TDM. Even in objective games though, usually it seems like one team has no interest in anything but getting kills, so talking would probably not even matter in those situations.

BFBC2 is the truth, u missed out though that u can only talk too 3 of the 11 team members on yourside.

I really wish more games were like CoD, i love the noise in CoD, whether your in a group and u get into a fight with a group on the opposing side, then the match becomes personal!, if your alone and playing then you hear some guy/group raging at you for killing them, remaining quiet and just listening to the glory... love it, this game however lacks it, even in free for all :(

One thing I loved about BattleField 2 on PC is the call out menu, Everything tactically you would need to say was in that mini menu you could pull up.

Stuff like Enemys spotted, Need reinforcements, Yes, No, thank you, Need ammunition. Need Uav.

Trying to communicate in terms of using maneuver warfare is challenge on this game. The combination of how fast pace the maps are and not being able to use key terrain association is tough, its a lot of run and gun. I still try...

a couple of times, i've heard people blasting their music in the back round, why do they think i need to hear they're terrible music, other than that there isn't much talking going on, but i kind of like the silence

They're probably trying to figure out why the game keeps blasting that garbage music into their mic too

I've only heard 2 people talk so far, one complaining about the lag, and the other was obviously talking to someone not in the game..

But then again I've only heard 2 people blast distorted music down there mics so far, and once it was Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.... sadly it still sounded like complete **** coming through a mic.....

One thing I have noticed, since the migrating session has been slightly less frequent (3 out of 4 games now instead of every game), is that the sound of the guns is terrible, you can't tell where the **** it is coming from, unlike other modern FPS's where the surround sound actually gives you a really good sense where the shots are being fired from. In Crysis 2 though, when someone starts shooting at you it sounds like they are shooting from any direction - combine that with nobody talking through the game/team strategy and it can really hamper the fluid nature of the game play a bit....

Anyone else notice this?

play with your friends. i love the fact that there seems to be no attention seeking 13 year olds playing this game. mw2 is the worst for it, all i have to do is enter a lobby and i'll get a headache before the loading screen even shows up.

Yep I stay in a party with my friends most of the time. If I'm not playing with friends I'm set to friends only for the reason that a portion of XBL is wanna be gangstas that like to act big and bad over the internet. Nothing ruins my gaming experience more than some kid screaming racial slurs and vulgarity over the mic.

I don't speak on mic, and don't listen. Just fine with me, usually people just smack talk like idiots.

Only 3 of my friends own the game right now. When we play together, we will talk like crazy, but when only half the team is communicating, it just makes the game kind of dull.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the obnoxious smacktalk from annoying preteens that think online anonymity is a license to be a douche. But I also miss the pitched combat talk that you get in other games.
