Ragdolls and NPC's

Post » Tue Sep 21, 2010 4:09 am

Hi guys its me again :)
Um Im really "overprotective" about crysis 2 and I need to know more.
So as we all know, cryengine 3 will have awesome kickass NPC's with dynamic cover and hit reactions where you shoot a limb and the bounce back. My question is, will it be as good as for xbox? How lifelike will they be?

i found a vid at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D9oINHI11E&feature=channel

Why are you overprotective? If the company developing the game decides to make a change you don't like in order to increase revenue, there is absolutely nothing you can do to make it not happen. Complaints are heard, but since money is involved, the complaints are not acted upon.

If Bill Gates was a fan of Crysis 2, and he wanted the ability to ride unicorns in multiplayer, all he needs to do to get it done is to shove money down the developers throats, if he simply complains, no one will listen.

What I'm trying to say is that being a fanboy and overprotective of something that you cannot change is fruitless. Just buy the game or don't.

Cameljock, the fact that Crytek has done so much for its community tells me otherwise. The opening up of a site just for modders, a community with daily interaction from the developers, it tells me that they want our feedback. And since Cry-Tom, Shinnangans, and others peruse this forum daily, then I would say exactly the opposite.

With the overprotective statement, if you were a fan, wouldn't you want to see the product do well? That is why we are hear, and the fact that the whole site is called "MY"Crysis.

Besides going on a rant on why you don't like the guy, why not try to answer his question without being snotty?

What I'm trying to say is that being a jerk is fruitless. Provide constructive criticism or don't.

Ark5, with response to your question, ragdoll physics shouldn't be crazy to code in, despite what platform you are on.

I have been reading my post over and over and have not seen anything that I have typed that was offensive or rude. Why am I being a jerk for speaking truth?

It's like being asked by someone religious what their belief is, telling them the belief and suddenly offending that person for having a differing opinion.

If anyone here is being a jerk, it's you Dogs900.

Ragdoll limitations in Crysis has absolutely nothing to do with money but rather German law.

Well, if the company had the monetary power to move its headquarters to another country, the German law limitations are null.

Powerful people (a.k.a. people who have more money than you) can impose ideologies onto other powerful people. This is why there is an absurd law in Australia banning R18+ games even though it has been proven that games are played by advlts at an order of magnitude higher than minors and that it does not affect violent behavior.

Yes, I agree, this argument is indeed silly.

Sorry but this argument is just silly. You're talking about relocating ~350 employees to another country to set up a new studio ... for ragdolls?

@OP - You'll have to wait and see just how much interaction there is as we get closer to launch :) I believe it will be the same experience across all 3 platforms.

@Cameljock
Our law is our law and we cannot do anything about it. You're talking offensive, yes. And your idea is completely stupid. When someone asks you something, you should build your comments on real proofs and not what you think. Dogs900 is right and Crytek does care about our feedback. You are calling Crytek a moneyeater who doesn't care about their community, but they aren't. I don't know where you got your information from but Crytek isn't just a mediocre game studio.
