I am currently experiencing a crash-to-desktop with RAGE immediately upon exiting the Ark for the first time. I am greeted by the wasteland after the light blindness wears off, the screen freezes and then the game crashes to desktop. I've done a bit of digging around and here's all the relevant info I can find.

It's worth noting that I applied the ATI hotfix after my initial few CTDs. No effect.

I have also an HD 5850 but haven't gotten my game yet and have cancelled my order, for now.

Could you please try to revert to driver 11.8 and see if it works then?

try changing your driver...that's how it worked for me

Yeah I'd really like to know if the driver is the issue. I have the same video card, and my laptop has an ATi aswell, and was hoping to be able to play it on both systems.

I have the same video card (5850) and was experiencing the same problem. I role-backed the driver and the game no longer crashes after exiting the Ark. It still has terrible screen flickering even to the point where enemies disappear for a second. The game now works fine other than the screen flickering with the 11.9 driver.
