Probably. Rage was not developed for W8. A number of games don't work right on that OS. Probably driver issues. With every OS, there is game pain for about the first 3 or so months as all the issues get discovered.
It is entirely possible that some games, not saying this one as I don't know about the W8 success or not yet, may just not work on that OS. It might make sense to have a dual boot rig, one on your older OS and one on W8. Put the games that work on each OS. While it is a pain to choose the OS at boot, it is much less of a pain than trying to get some games to work on a new OS, at least in the first few months.
You need another physical drive for the most elegant dual boot, but it can be done with partitions on one drive.
