What's wrong with the Scorcher ship? it's what they were working on to attack Wellspring. A boss is a boss is a boss. They are generally the same. They just take a different form and slightly different sequence of wearing them down. It was definitely a boss fight.

RAGE should have had a "boss man" in some sort of suit to battle but there you go - they have learnt their lesson. I don't think having just another big bad guy at the end of Scorchers would have worked.

The airship is a natural because vertical levels use space better and id is experimenting with ways to use their new id tech 5 animations. You see the same thing in the new mutant bash scenes where mutants climb down the walls instead of popping out of tubes or whatever. A lot of people agree the "blue line" level is perhaps the best animation sequences, however the "jackal valley" is another great example of going vertical. I believe part of the advantage is the megatextures can sometimes substitute well for geometric details allowing a scene to look like it has more geometry than it actually does. These scorcher levels also have a lot of classic id style castle architecture hinting possibly at Doom 4 or the Quake remake.

Blue Line Station is in standard Rage - http://rage.wikia.com/wiki/Blue_Line_Station

If you have The Scorchers DLC, you can access the Blue Line Station missions from Scenario Selection. They are probably my favourite missions to go shooting.

I loved the air ship.
I think it's the best boss fight in an idSoftware game so far
Most bosses by id have been uncreative monsters with high health that just look cool, but don't do very much.

The air ship is their best boss to this day, in my opinion, just fighting that thing makes you feel like a damn hero. Winning is just icing on the cake

I own those games and they have lame boss battles.
Like I said, they are cool-looking bosses that don't do very much. Especially the ones in Wolf3d, Doom1,2,3
BTW, the Cyberdemon fight was very lame and disappointing. Doesn't matter how cool he looks
If you're a heavy gamer you should know id has never been good at making "epic" boss fights, just making bosses look epic

The airship in Scorchers wasn't just an overpowered monster like other idSoftware bosses. The airship actually moved around naturally and had different attacks like every boss should, and even different stages of battle. It was epic. The fact that you're fighting a ship and not a monster doesn't mean squat. It doesn't matter what you fight. It's the battle that should be epic

He's my 2nd favorite idSoftware boss
I liked that you have to destroy the seekers until he can be hurt, that adds variety to the challenge.
I still think the airship is a better boss, but that boss (Guardian) is also really cool.

Anyway, I too would rather fight a big monster. What I'm saying is, it doesn't matter how cool a monster looks if the battle is lame. I don't want to fight a big monster that just walks around doing the same 1 attack, that gets boring. So I like the airship because the battle is entertaining the entire time.

Edit: Oh and, Doom3's bosses weren't that bad, I did like the battle with Vagary and Guardian, those were really cool. Sabaoth was okay. It's the Cyberdemon that was lame, he is the easiest boss in any shooter game I've ever played.

What I see is your basically saying what bosses you think look coolest, but looking cool doesn't make a good boss, they need to have a good fight too. But you're right, if a boss has both, then even better, and yes, I can't wait for Doom4, I bet that will give me a new favorite boss

Hell Guardian and Hitler were my favorite id booses ! !
I like more and more id bosses, but you're right, most of them are very easy fight
Cyberdemon is easy, the Guardian had to be the last boss for classic Doom 3 ! !
I hope that Doom 4 will be more hard then Rage!!
