RAGE Frenzy Card Game

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:59 am

I finally had a chance to talk with the Mayor of Wellspring and I was able to try the Frenzy card game in the tavern.

Although I have never played any games like POkemon or Magic the Gathering before, the Frenzy card game was surprisingly fun.

Comparing it to Caravan in Fallout New Vegas, I continued playing Frenzy several times simply for the fun of it, as opposed to Caravan which was also somewhat fun but primarily played as a means to earn caps.

What did you think about this game? Did you find any unique cards that really help?

What kind of strategy did you employ?

When you first get to Wellsprings I think a bandit deck is best for the $25 games. I used:

Ghost Boss (Ghost Hideout)
Ghost Bonestick (Ghost Hideout)
Ghost Pistol (on ledge above exit from Wasted garage)
Sentry Turret (in Wasteland just before entrance to Wasted Garage)
Wasted Turret (Wasted Garage)
Wasted Club (Wasted Garage)
City Guard (in starter deck)

With good play I win almost every time against everything but the mutant deck with the Caprino in it, and probably 50% of the time against that deck.

After you get weapons for your buggy and you can travel to the entrance to Dead City. There's an authority Infiltrator card near the entrance. Swap out the Ghost Bonestick and City Guard for the Infiltrator. There's a Shrouded Minigun card hidden at the Feldomite Crater. Pick it up and you can start playing $55 games.

Once you do the Dead City mission you can pick up the Large Mutant, Kraken and Slime Mutant cards. Run through Mutant Bash TV and you'll get the J K Stiles card for beating it and pick up the Mutant Slinger (?) card just before the end of the contest. Add in a Cuprino, which you get from winning the Cuprino race, Sentry Turret and Dune Buster and you've got the makings of an awesome $55 deck.

In evaluating cards, I think 4 damage is way better than 3 and 6 is way better than 5 because of the rounding that happens when opponents are taking cover. Also, for the player ranged attacks are usually better than melee. If your opponent gets a Cuprino out on turn 1 and a Kraken on turn 2 you're in trouble, though.

I don't like the HE Grenade or Bomb Car cards. They only really help you when you are losing, but also don't do much to help against the truly disastrous situations like the aforementioned Cuprino + Kraken/Large Mutant/Shrouded Minigun situation.

I actually really like the card game.I don't know how much "real" strategy there is,considering that your deck is drawn randomly after you pick your cards. It took my about 4 matches to beat Teague's hardest deck in Subway Town.

The only thing that I like to do is to make sure that I have a couple of vehicle cards in the deck,to draw ranged attacks.
