My Rage Review so far

Post » Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:41 pm

Ok to start off with , this is the pc version and was downloaded from steam with all the bonus stuff.

GRAPHICS: Visually the game is incredible , im lucky enough to own a rig with a set of gtx 580 lightnings and all i can say is WOW. The games engine is incredible and runs at only 13% usage on both cards. The game is literally a living digital painting in terms of art , i have never seen a game with such attention to detail and such TLC. The only downside is that some / alot of textures are not up to snuff in terms of resolution and i cant wait to see if they do release a HD texture pack. I do believe that if they do , this game will be S.O.T.A.

SOUND: To me audio is more important than visuals ( im an audiophile ) and this game delivers. The game has at least 15 to 20db's of dynamic range and has great bass extension down to 25hz or so. The voice acting is also great and is very unique and is well written at least in my opinion.

GAMEPLAY: What good would a game be without gameplay? well im going to confess im a huge ID fan so my opinion might be alittle biased but all i have to say is that im going to be playing this for a long time. The gun action is incredible and i love the racing so far. I dont have one compalint on it yet so its looking great for me.

Im only a few hours in but im loving it so far. Hows everyone else loving it?

BTW my rig is

i7 2600k 4.7ghz
GTX 580 lightnings in SLI overclocked to 954mhz
8gb's Ram
128gb SSD , 1TB HDD

Well since you can't change graphical settings it's a no-buy for me.

I want to choose how to play this game, I know it will force lower graphics just so it can sit at 60FPS which I personally don' give a [censored] about.
I rather be able to crank GFX up a little more.

Also, the images you posted, as you said blurry textures and I might add zero displacement mapping etc.

Really too bad, cause I don't want to play a glitchy game with pop-ups and sluggishness cause they force a certain settings.
When will they realize all PC's are different, it is ALWAYS up to the individual players and their OWN settings for what runs best and looks the best for them.

I will only buy if they fix the graphical settings so WE can choose what we want, we pay for the game right.
Or at best a REALLY cheap bargain bin game.

Your probably in the mix of half of the people that can get this game to function properly, I dont believe anyone with a ATI card can get it to work without texture problems, without maybe changing a ton of settings, dissabling a GPU or two, and rolling back drivers. Id be able to give the game a worthy review if the state of it was release, this isnt even beta by most standards. A lot of people cant even play it because they can hardly see.

If you think this game is graphically incredible download the Battlefield 3 beta, its open right now. That game is graphically incredible. This game kinda reminds me of borderlands, of course better but reminds me of that a bit.

So far it is running great on my new Alienware system I bought this summer. Core i7 960, 6gigs ram, 2x 480GTX SLI, Win 7, using battlefield 3 nvidia beta driver. Also using xbox 360 controller with wireless receiver for windows. Menus switch to A,B, button selects when you enable controller(I know that's blasphemy using a controller instead of MK). Forced vsync on in nvidia options. All in all ,I'm not having any issues what so ever, saved game a bunch of times, no freezing. No texture pop at all. My only gripe is all these enemy's keep dropping weapons that disappear, that's such a lame game mechanic to keep the player gimped. And, there is literally no objects to interact with, all this post apocalyptic debry and it's all cemented in place, makes the world feel so fake...I hate it. Half-life 2, oblivion, fallout3, all had objects you could manipulate, trash, bottles, boxes, it was wonderful. It's 2011, there is no excuse for such a lifeless world, granted it looks good, but still seems lifeless and fake. But il still play it like a good little minion.
