Rage = The most embarassing major PC release in years

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:11 pm

id and Bethesda, you should both be thoroughly embarassed by this title on the PC. (and when I say "both", I mean those employees at your respective companies who demanded that this product be released before it was ready...I'm sure there were voices within both companies pleading to hold it back until it was finished / fixed)

I mean, it was bad enough that such a major, high-profile game was released with all the bugs that it had on day 1, but then to "fix" the game, only to have it still be full of glitches is just ridiculous. It's as if you've never made a game before.

The Radeon glitches (flickering, missing textures, random polygons popping in and out of existence) are STILL there. Last time I played, my character was completely black, devoid of any and all textures, every time I got on the ATV.

Yes, I'm only about 1.5 hours into the game, at least half of which has been spent tinkering with the video settings trying to get the game to not svck. No luck so far.

The worst part, though, is that now, even though nothing has changed in terms of settings or anything else on my computer since this morning, as of this afternoon, I can no longer play the game for more than about 3 minutes before it locks up and I have to kill it via the Task Manager.

What a pathetic excuse for a Windows game.

When are you going to FIX THESE PROBLEMS?

Soon, hopefully, or you're going to be getting a lot more demands for refunds.

I agree, there has been an increasing amount of games that just don't work properly on most PC's on release day. I guess it's time to be more careful with buying games that don't have any sort of trial, demo or open beta. :brokencomputer:

Not sure why this thread got moved. It wasn't a request for technical help, but a statement about the fact that id and Bethesda shouldn't have released the game until they made sure that it worked in a mass market environment.

Same problem here Namria.
my specs are different: GTX 570 , Sandy bridge 2500 K CPU, 8 gigs of RAM.
Doom3 works but sluggish and fps dropped to 50's for the 1st time ever.

and people was complaining about Duke Nukem delay... at least they launched something that WORKS at least. It's a moral question. Do not launch the game until it's tested and proved to work in a VGA that A HALF of the all players have.

Bravo!

Thanks to some real life situations, I wont go into, I have managed to talk 26 people out of buying copies of Rage on various platforms (PC included), and talked 16 people into canceling their preorders for Skyrim. I continue to talk potential buyers out of this game every day that my 60 dollars is being held hostage by a company that refuses to communicate any news of a patch. I've been out the money with a broken product in hand since release day, and I will continue taking money out of their hands until this game is fixed.

We did our job of making sure that we had the minimum PC requirements to play this game; Bethesda, ID, YOU SHOULD HAVE TOO!

Blame it on AMD all you want, problem is, you released a game that no one bothered to test on an AMD product, and then released it to AMD users (their money spends too don't it?). You don't see Blizzard or even the evil empire of EA pulling this sort of bad practice.'

I'm off today, but tomorrow I'll be right back to preventing anyone from purchasing your products for the next 5 days. Or until I get my 60 dollars worth

Ive had Rage about a month installed on my PC and cant play it.

The reason? No sound!

To have such a major issue with Sound Blaster X-Fi products (one of the most popular around) is really shocking.

Back to work today to talk more folks out of buying anything with Bethesda's or ID's name on it.

I did and it improved it a bit but mouse movement is kinda sluggish!
As for Rage it didn't do any significant improvement. In the 1st seconds textures are blurry then corrected in no time.
Thanks.
