Hey, so basically me and a friend have nearly identical computers and we've been experiencing these completely random crashes as we travel thru the world. It's a basically a kick to the desktop and the game shuts down, no error message no nothing. It all happens within about 1 second.
We can start the game up again without a problem, and apart from this the game has been running smoothly. It should be mentioned that we've both only had two crashes each in total, and we've played for about 5hours.

Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.
Intel Core i7-2600k CPU (Not OC'd.)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580.
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z, Socket-1155.
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9.
Western Digital VelociRaptor? 600GB. 10 000rpm.

Anyone been having these types of crashes?

Reading this forum, i see that this is a very common problem.

Some player can't even see the menu: crash at betasheda logo.

I have saw the intro about 20 times before ( always crash ).

Pray for a patch and finger on f5.

Does any Solution for the game's crashing during the first encounter with a dragon exist? It happens during the execution scene at the beginning of the game.

Neither Reinstalling and working on the .Ini-files nor the new start of a game helped.

Is maybe my ATI HD 5870 the problem?

I have just installed the game, after the carriage ride comes to a stop my game crashes to desktop with no freeze or no message what so ever just a straight crash as if i had alt+f4 out of game. :S

I also hear static sounds.. any ideas?

Same here ! Random crashes, the game just closes. It seems completely random, it can appear after 1 minute or 1 hour playing.

Okay changing the sound settings as suggested in the other topic fixed mine. PHEW.

exactly the same happens to me,all is fine for a hour or so then it just kicks me to desktop

Having same problem after 6 hours. It wasn't too often but once an hour. It was completely random... I'd click on "What do you have for sale?" and poof to desktop. Other times attempting to loot etc. Random and weird.

I'm having the same issues. Intro up to the Keep works fine, enter the door/loading screen insta-crash. No errors, no messages of any kind. This has happened over the last 2 hrs and have been on the phone with Bethesda Costumer Support, well listening to their elevator music for the past hour and a half. Should we expect a patch or refund soon? I was super stoked about this game. Now I feel like instead of it blowing my socks off I've been hit in the face with poor performance and crashing and I can't even get out of the first 20min of the game...

Exactly the same issue here and changing the sound settings did not work either. The game seems to run pretty smoothly on high settings for me (recommended) but I keep getting these crashes straight to desktop. Intel duo core 3ghz, 4gb RAM, Windows vista, AMD Radeon HD 6800.
