Random Encounters/Epic Monsters

Post » Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:21 pm

You may enjoy them or may not. But seemingly most players enjoy finding that giant beast to slay. What kind of encounters, if any are you hoping to see? Do you want to slay the dragon or tame it? Should the snow troll be towering above you? whats in your wallet?

If you want an idea of an Epic Monster, please look at the Super Mutant Behemoth as a model of what you could expect. As for random encounters, they could be anything from a random talking goblin to a group of camping bandits in the wilderness.

Sure, I liekd the random encounters in Fallout 3 (they werent so random in NV). And I'm sure there will be a couple "Epic Monsters"
And the Unicorn wasnt random, its always in that one spot guarded by Minotaurs. Neither is the Behemoth. None of them are, they are all at set places.

I loved the random encounters in Fallout 3 it would be a nice touch to the wilderness with some random encounters here and there.

Spoiler
Also the Behemoth at the GNR garrison isn't a random encounter :whisper:

Yeah, I know that one wasnt, but the other Behemoths are considered to be so. Like the one at Evergreen Mills.

EDIT: It appears the Behemoths fall under Epic Beast categorie. But in my defense the last time I played Fallout 3 2 years ago, the wiki had Behemoths under random encounters.

No they aren't. The Evergreen Mills one is always in its cage, same with the one at Takoma Park, and the one along that one highway.

Doesn't this fall under the level-scaling and loot scaling threads already up? Handplaced vs. Automated kind of thing?

well it still falls under epic monsters and I think there probably will be epic monsters since it has been confirmed that there will be dragons, and I really hope that it will have dragons
