random quest giver? or radint quest system

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:17 pm

hello, on Monday, August 01, 2011 12:52 AM i have sent a suggestion to bethesda, it was about a idea i had at the time about a feature that could be included on TES 5, it was called RANDOM QUEST GIVER....

so i sent a suggestion to bethesda via email and explained how it could be implemented, and how it would work, i have received the confirmation email and saved it, at the time i didin′t thinked it would be seen or it would reach anyone but i love video games, its my dream to work on videogames, and because i am a very creative person some of my ideas have been on some games here and there, but when i sent a idea that is implemented on a game at least i expect some mention, at least a thank you...

as mentioned my dream is to work on video games, i love to create wordls, storys, characters, plots and if something good came out of my mind, i think i deserve recognition, and i am disapointed with you guys because if mentioned at least i would get a shot to so something i love, and to work on something that I breathe and love every day is one of the best things in life

the similarities between radiant quest system and random quest giver speak for themselves so i am asking you guys to do the right thing and credit to who deserves it....that could help my life and could get me to realize a dream so i am asking you one more time to do the right thing

edit: sorry for my rusty english, and from the "radint" me mistake

You had no copyright or proof of this email's existence. You've absolutely no claim of this, and if you somehow did in some capacity, that doesn't mean you could claim accreditation for it. Sometimes ideas can run concurrently, and Bethesda had probably been thinking of this system since the production of Oblivion with Radiant Story. It's an expansion on ideas they all ready had, and you likely build your idea off of theirs anyways. No. You have no claim.

Oh yeah, and they touted Radiant story after the first TEASER.

Thanks for the email and suggestions. I encourage you to register and post on our official forums where you can share and discuss ideas with other fans: http://www.gamesas.com -----Original Message-----From: blade_runner_90@hotmail.com [mailto:blade_runner_90@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, August 01, 2011 12:52 AMSubject: sugestion by joao cunha Name: joao cunhaEmail: blade_runner_90@hotmail.com Subject: sugestion by joao cunha Message: Hello, i am joao cunha and i am from portugal,I am what some call storylines/plot creator, i have my work on some games and my work can be found on some very well known indie titles, i have some simple ideas that i would like to share with you that i believe it could help to improve TES series. TES series are long games, 150 quests on a game are fantastic bit what about infinite quests? let me explain my idea Random Quest Giver- has the name, imagine our hero entering a bar/inn or chosen location like a guild, ask some questions or sittting at the balcon and ordering a beer or some food and hang out for some short time, then some random events generated by a random engine that controllers diferent variable options like pre-recorded dialog, quests and locations, and random rewards would kik in and rendered what i would call a random event. these random events could add to the game a sense of realism and imersion that would be fantastic if implemented well, also the game lenght would be terrific and by doing so i believe TES ( or any other game that has a open world ) would greatly benefict from this idea in all areas it would take pre recorded dialogue with pre-recorded rewards, outcomes, enemys and so on, that could be linked or not to the place we were example magues guild inn or lounge, sit at a table or balcon order for a beer/ask for dinner or talking with characters and then a random event kiks in, two magues characters ( also random Npc visitors to the guild not fixed Npcs ) appear and directly ask for help or start to talking to each other and the hero listens and pick the quest, then the random engine would chosen a location, ( cave,castle,catacumbs...) generate random but coherent enemy encontours and a random outcome the the quest with random reward/loot ( sorry for utilize random word so much ) also the hero would have to hang out in some places were the random quest giver would happen or could be implementated and we could introduce a hunger system that could atract the player to an inn or bar to feed or drink, the hunger system could be implemented and be very simple but thats optional. i believe the beneficts for a RPG/open world title of this idea could benefict alot the game and for the moment we have random generated dungeons, that are a very basic formula that coul be vastly improved and bethesda having something like this in its games would be fantastic if created well. i cant reveal much of my work due to contract obligations but there is a game( very well known game) that has almost a infinite number of weapons and infinite number of possible created weapons that its formula borned from a sugestion like this one and the sucess of that was great and the results are there any question my email is blade_runner_90@hotmail.com or joao_cunha90@hotmail.com have a good work and congratulation for so many fantastic games Sender IP: 89.152.167.9

Simply copying it down does not prove validity. You need a screenshot.

Don't bother though. Like I said, this system has been around since the early stages of Oblivion, slowly being iterated on. You have no claim.

August still comes way after December 13th when they first announced the game... You really think that in the space of time between August and November they implemented a system that would require so so so much messing about with all the different tables and dependencies?
In fact do you really think that the game wasn't almost half finished when they first announced it? They've been working on Skyrim for years.

Sorry Dude, they've been working on Skyrim for a heck of a lot longer than 4 months, not to mention that your "random quest giver" was around in Daggerfall 15 years ago.

That doesn't make his comment invalid. This is all about the exchange of ideas, and whilst I'm not legal expert, I'm pretty sure you can't claim ownership to something this vague as a system.

Also, they were talking about Radiant Story VERY early after the game's reveal. Definitely after the first gameplay trailer, and perhaps even before. That's December 2010 and April 2011.

How adorable. Why don't you post that confirmation email, since you feel the need to post an obvious legal matter in the general forums?

Yeah, I think they may have you on this one; they've been working on it for years. However, as many in my country have elected to do, you can make a sign with your grievance, and head for your local OWS protest. Demand credit and 'lotz of monee'; personally, I'd ask for a comp game, a new computer, and my student loans paid. I think one of the programmers should also be your butler for a year. Yell. Watch out for perverts, and who knows...you may make it big on you tube. :shifty:

If you have a legal issue with Bethesda take it to them or your lawyer. But don't post on the forum about it. We don't allow such here. Sorry.

If you have any legal problem with Bethesda, you should contact them directly and not use the forum.

But really, august 2011 is too recent. They finished the Skyrim design document years ago, not to mention that the random quest system found in Skyrim is nothing new, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall released back in 1996 had random quests given to you in it too.
