I was curious just now, why aren't we allowed to have pictures in our signature?

AFAIK, a while back there was a spam fest of pormography which resulted in images being disabled. You can only link images now.

Once upon a time for a brief moment in time they were allowed and the results were unfavorable. Now many of our members enjoy not having them. And it doesn't seem worth the risk of re-implementing them only to have problems again.

Myself included

On pretty much every other forum I visit, one of the first things I do is to turn off the signatures so I don't see the signature images and stuff. I think a lot of people put too much junk there, which is displayed over and over, every time they make a post. I visit a forum to read the posts, not the signatures for the fifty-eleventh time.

And I! I dislike them very much. I'm a fan of not having pictures spam my screen.

Quite. I'm a member of forums where pictures in sigs are allowed and there's always a bunch of people who have either a massive full-page banner or a dozen animated gifs, neither of which really adds to the experience. I sometimes use a banner strip where it's permitted, but some people have no sense of restraint.

I have nothing against small images in signatures, like clan tags, webpage userbars and alike. But I too, like people above, hate scrolling through walls of large, shiny and flashing images.

Having images in signatures is nice, but I don't miss them that much.

I dislike images in sigs, they slow down the loading of pages too much for my liking.
