Random system crashes as of patch 1.8

Post » Mon Nov 05, 2012 8:28 am

As I didn't find anything similar to my problem here, I reckoned I should make a thread of it.

So after getting updated to patch 1.8 (and updated SKSE to avoid instant CTD's) I have had random system crashes, which occur... well, randomly, causing screen to go blank, and sound to jam. This makes me do a forced shutdown, which I'm not exactly too keen of. Surely I'm not the only one with this sort of problem. Below is list of my mods and system specs:

Don't be using the High Texture packs if you got a replacement, which you do. If I remember right, only use one Lanterns of Skyrim and the Climates of Tamriel. Try changing your d3d9.dll that might help with performance, and your SkyrimPrefs.ini and Skyrim.ini settings, something might be too high. Some of mods, haven't been updated for the latest patch either, as the CK update doesn't come out until tomorrow, and they use the Update.esm. I have 200+ mods, 4k textures, and the above ultra settings (Top is 15 in settings, mine is at 25 and the cap is 20 for LOD) and my game runs perfectly, so for you if you get a problem it's probably easier to test. Anyways, I hope that helps. Some of those mods I don't don't use anymore. And some I never had.

Aside from the fixes it may have given other users, 1.8 is laying the foundation for the next DLC. Or would you rather that didn't come out?

1.8 introduced no bugs whatsoever. It's probably a mod. Oh and the problem RahaMies is most likely WIndows 8. Too many have had problems with the OS.

Not been hearing too many good things about W8.

My advice is that you disable all mods except for those you NEED and try a new save file.
