Ranger armor combo?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:12 pm

Well, I decided to remake my first character, which was a ranger based off of Halt Carrick from the Ranger's Apprentice because I gimped him and also he became too overpowered.

Now, I'm just trying to find some good armor that would look like this:

or my avatar. I know there's no green, so I'm going to use brown. I'd like to hear some armor that would come as close as possible to this armor. (no Nightingale)

Well there's no cloaks in this game other than on the nightingale. There are mage's hoods but they don't really go with anything imo except robes. Perhaps Elven armour with some TG/TB Hood/gloves/hands or just the full TG set?

I would do the Hammerfell garb with TG hood/Adept hood, but I need light armor.

As far as default stuff, I can sort of convince myself of "ranger-ness" wearing Linwe's armor.

Would be better if it was green or had more of a outdoors motif.

There is a cowel in sort of a grey color. The clothing store in Solotude sells it as a 'hat'. It looks decent enough but you won't get the unencumbered light armor perk because it's clothing.

Something perfect (to me) would be mail.. like medium-ish armor, with a grey or green cloak+hood. I know there isn't medium armor, but some stuff is sort of referred to it as intending to be (like studded imperial armor is called medium by an NPC... I supposed regular studded has the same thing going for it).

are you on PC?.

if so you could use these;

bah tag failed, if your on PC ill relist...just say.

I'm very much like you i Love archery and playing an Archer / Ranger is the bee's knee's and i think there should be more ranger armor models in the game. though personally i dont really feel the -need- for light armor you should really be getting hit so a garb should be fine and if you really need armor you could use Alteration spells?

if you really need light amror then I'm at a loss to really get the ranger look tbh or atleast off the top of my head...TG armor probably looks closest otherwise leather + a hood (novices hood looks pretty cool)

otherwise i would really suggest the hammerfall garb + novices hood.....but as you say the garb is not light armor.

Wear what my character is wearing (ancient shrowded cowl, boots and gloves with Nightingale armour). Still ABIT of nightingale in it, but not completely.

This might suit you. Spoilers if you follow the link to the wiki page. It doesn't look it in the pic but it's light brown. It has some useful bonuses but isn't overpowered.

Edit: Oops Korr already mentioned this.

Too bad those armor sets require a lot of guild activity. I'd like to be able to fnd a cool outdoorsy set of armor (or even clothing) without having to run through *any* guild.

But rangers aren't really part of TES lore anyway, I guess.

This is trying to match something to the pic. TES doesn't really have rangers in the LOTR/D&D sense. Nature in TES is all about Hircine, Kynareth/Kyne, Yffre (yiffer??). Good armor for a TES ranger type might be the reward from Hircine's quest, Forsworn armor & the quest version of that, fur armor...

Probably better suited in Valenwood.

The Thieves Guild Armor is good, but it has no cloak. I like to combine it with boots and bracers of the Old Gods.
