I was actually surprised and disappointed. What's the point of having an extinct race in your lore if it keeps popping up in the next game?

Dragons gone ... no their back (and you find a couple that never died).
Snow Elves gone ... no their back (and the rest were there all along, just deformed).

I just want a little consistency in the world. Is that too much to ask?

Really OP, you not only missed the stickies thread with the title, all in caps, which reads "PLEASE DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS FORUM", you also failed to notice the ENTIRE SUBFORUM entitled 'Dawnguard Cheats, Hints and SPOILERS'?

Should have gone to specsavers...

Totally defeats the point of saying spoiler if you put it in the title.
Not only in the title but AFTER the spoiler, be more careful next time. >.<

I reported it to have it moved to the spoiler section :)

Perhaps you can edit the title yourself? Dunno if it's possible on this forum.

Nope. TES III: Morrowind had an actual live Dwemer in it, Yagrum Bagarn. He said he thinks he was able to avoid the fate of the other Dwemer, because he was in the Outer Planes at the time that Kagrenac tapped into the Heart of Lorkhan. However, upon returning to Tamriel he caught Corprus and became the fat, corpulent slob with the lower body of a Dwemer Spider. You also find Dwemer Specters in several of the Dwemer Ruins, you even talk to one in Tribunal.
Plus, in TES V: Skyrim, the Master Conjuration Trainer, Falion, mentions that he's met and conversed with Dwemer while traveling the Outer Planes. So technically, they're still around. Just not on Nirn.

Speaking of this, Yagrum had the ability to move between the planes... It has been mentioned there are other Dwemers in the Outer Planes.... Not too big a stretch to assume they too can come and go. I would rather see the Aeylieds (However it's spelled from Oblivion)

Werent there a few Aeylieds (?) in oblivion? I think they had something to do with the knights of the nine, but there were a few in the base game in a certain ruin that could be killed and stripped of their axes.

In KOTN there were Aurorons (sp?), servants of Meridia, and Umaril, an Aylied King-turnred-into-giant Auroron

In the TG questline you encountered living statues of Aylieds though. They were oversized high elves decked out in Elven Armour.

Yes, but no actual Aylieds... One you encountered was a dead Aylied/lich thing. The other was a statue. Hell, in Vanilla skyrim there is a statue of a snow elf, but the real thing is better.
