I'm really confused

Post » Tue Jan 04, 2011 4:41 pm

So yeah, just started up on Fallout:New Vegas, and it has taken me around four hours to get to the strip, mainly because i had to earn a pass working for the king, and decided to help his dog afterwords. Anyways, on topic, I get there, and the Benny guy who tried to kill me starts acting like he's seen me more than once before, and goes on about how he will never give me the chip, one which I don't think I'd heard of until now. Aren't I just a courrier? After I manage to talk him into not killing me, I immediatly recieve invitations from Ceaser, Mr.House and the police cheif to visit them. What the hell did I do to deserve all this? I thought that Mr.House was some kind of mysterious figure that nobody had ever heard of, but he just invites me up for no reason whatsoever and turns out to be a very underwhelming giant talking head. I'm confused, is there something that should have happened that didin't, because this makes no sense to me.

Seems like you must have missed a part somewhere. Boulder City? Manny?

You need to talk to a lot of NPCs to get the drift of the story. You missed the conversation with the old guy where you discuss the courier. I'm a shooter guy myself but I'm learning.

It seems like you just skipped through every conversation and wanted to get to the killing people. There's a story too, you know :twirl:

Everything you do in game is up to you, roleplay that Vegas itself was the goal not the MQ.

However the real enjoyment is finding all the layers to the onion you've just bought.
Peel away at the game and find the many things to do, see, speak to and kill, otherwise you end up with 35 quids worth of software never touched.
This game has so many possiblities it's amazing, screw ups add to this, as it's very hard to break most of the quests but it gets fun if you do.

Talked to the old guy, fought in boulder city, I get that this guy and his Khan bodyguards tried to kill me, but why would I want the chip? Also, he seems to act like he knew I wasn't dead. It's confusing.

It's kinda nuts that you made it to Vegas in four hours.. I think by the time i made it to Vegas i was around the 25-30 hour mark, had to shelve the game for a while though im at like fourty hrs now ant still have a TON of things to do.

I'd recommend like others here to stop and talk to as many NPC's as you can, it really fills in the main story as well as tons of background stuff

Yeah 4 hour is a bit long, 1 hour should be enough.

4 hours to get to the strip...hell, I didn't even see the light from Freeside until about 30 hours in. This kind of RPG you need to take your time, or you'll miss a whole lot of the story, and be lost. You can't just run, and gun through the whole thing. Otherwise you might as well just play Call of Duty.

Did you watch the opening when you started a new game? did you ask any questions around goodsprings about why you were shot? obviously not or you wouldn't be confused.

With this kind of genere is not about the destination, is all about the journey. And that's what you've been missing. Try to explore the areas you go through, talk and listen to every character wth a name that you meet, this will give you a much better experinece and more fun than just rushing to the next point. At least on the first time.

So far you missed the whole idea to grow into the character you're supposed to play :

Yes you're just a courier but it was your job to deliver the platinum chip (you have a note in your inventory).

First you're motivated for revenge, after you accomplished it all major factions take notice, and now you're the center of attention because everyone wants on their side.

At this point is when it gets interesting because you have to pick a side. Anything goes, even if you want to become ruler of the strip, doble cross or play hero.

Personally I love this game because it feels like a movie were you are the main character and the director, you decide were to go and what to do, lots and lots of choices.

your a courier who got shot in the head and instead of going home you run after the boss of the tops to give him a bullet with his name on it, all for the sake of revenge.
on the way your suppose to be a big help to primm, novac, and goodsprings.

the courier is about as important as hoover dam itself.
