Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge. Arguments or debates with such are usually futile. Every flaw is spun into semi-virtues and everything else, blown to comedic, complimentary proportions.
Granted that is Urban Dictionary..... What? I didn't want this to be completely factual.
We all enter this new game with some level of gaming history. Some will absolutely let you know what game they came from. Often they will grind an axe. "If they only listened to me!"
Others will rank up each game as degrees to "qualify" their opinion.
And even others give TMZ a run for their number with their stalking abilities of anyone associated with the game. "Joey Grimble, associate janitor to the VP of Quest says he saw them drawing a troll with plate armor. Can you believe they are putting PLATE on a troll? Immersion BREAKR!!!!"
We even have professional troll spotters. They sniff em out and shoot em down.... but we all know.... the best way to deal with a troll is.. .dont feed em.
The point folks is.... you are geeks!
Okay thats not really the point (odds are I went past the post count limit anyway so you stopped paying attention at Dictionary)
The point is that games are often defined by their community. Communities are all encompassing. They accept and allow all types... the good and the bad. Overall, they are mature and patient. Or I should say.... in my opinion, they are.
Yes, that is the point.... my opinion. Opinions aren't wrong. They can't be... they can be misguided and delusional but not wrong.
We need to stop puffing our chest and learn to read and listen. Except an opinion, and know how to share yours without it being condescending .
really devoted fan???? Today you play mental Olympics with people who are interested in the game.... tomorrow you will be engaging haters.... and you will be the really devoted fan.
EDIT NOTE: I have to laugh, and please note this. The Subject Title was "fanBOIY" (spelled like you would expect, but needed to defeat the filter) but the filter changes it automatically to "really devoted fan"
It is such an attack word it is treated like profanity.
