Really hope there's a first person view OPTION

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:32 pm

I get that for MMO's most people play 3rd person for combat and PVP but don't make it forced in this game! It annoyed me that both gw2 and Tera didn't even give a FPV option for those that want it for exploring and screenshots and what not.. I am not much of a single player RPG player, but I love MMO's and first person is a basic option that should be in them

We don't even know if the gameplay would work with a 1st person view, i my self haven't played an Mmorpg with a hotbar combat system in first person view since EQ, and i have played them all.

First person might be nice for questing and roleplaying, but it has serious drawbacks in combat. As long as it's just an option, I'm fine with it.

Yeah that's all I'd really want, the option for it, I never fight in first person in MMO's but when I'm not fighting I love being able to scroll in without my characters head in the way

As great as the thought sounds, it would limit your abilities quite a lot. (what you see, what you can target etc). I don't think it's worth adding it to the game, because that'd take resources away from other aspects.

Most MMO's allow you to zoom in. I expect TESO will allow it too.

No it doesnt svck for me at all. I'm going to be playing Guild Wars 2 on release. This game is so similar to that I dont know of any really good reason to play this one over that.

Lack of first person view and cartoony Wow like graphics doesnt make me think this is very TES like. Its more TESlite

There's no FPV in gw2 either, YET, I am hoping they add it based on the amount of feedback on the forums and such

Meh TES is TES, and yes i liked Battlespire and Redguard, they were still TES. The view and combat were a small part of what made TES games what they are and changing that doesn't make them any less TES.

Sure we can complain that the color's are brighter than most TES are known for, but the art side, na, no TES has never had ART that was fully the same and looking at the TESO screens, although brighter than usual, you can still see TES in it easy.

That makes no sense. You'll play GW2 without first person, but not the TESO? Cool. I'll be playing both! See you online!

Traversing Tamriel, including Elsweyr, first person or not > Then any other MMO.

I'll play to see all of Tamriel. That, above all else, beats everything for me.

And Battlespire and Redguard were so TES-like that they nearly bankrupted Bethesda....Just saiyan....

As for first person, I would like it, but alas, the seemingly generic MMO gameplay that was chosen is not conducive to such a viewpoint.

How was that gameplay when you played it ? How did the stamina and mana system compare to other TES games ? How did the blocking, sprinting and interruptions feel ?

Key word: "seemingly"

seem·ing·ly
adverb?/?sēmiNGlē/?
  • So as to give the impression of having a certain quality; apparently
    • - a seemingly competent and well-organized person
  • According to the facts as one knows them; as far as one knows
    • - it's touch and go, seemingly, and she's asking for you

Actually, I've been in many raids where the raid all played in first person because it cut down on lag. Sometimes we even had to all look at the ground... :P

As for the option for first person perspective: YES!!!

TES is first person and works in battles and in MMO your in a party so your own members wont take damage if AOEs are dropped so what really is the problem with with FPV ? it works in shooters iv been in battles with guns and bombs and knives with 50-100 players and its far superior to top down mouse pointers generic MMO style old school crap wive been fed for so long. Was really hoping TESO would set a new style similar to TES .

I find that hard to swallow since it's not being developed by the same crew that developed past TES games.

FPV is a nice feature, and some MMOs do pull off the option for you, but for the style it's talking about I don't see it as being a huge deal either way.

Part of the reason TES games needed FPV was the ability to interact with EVERYTHING you saw, good luck picking up a single septim in third person. I doubt TES:O will have this level of interaction so it won't be as big a deal, Skyrim already proved third person combat can be just as good.
