Good day everyone,
Okay, I maybe new to The Elder Scrolls, and to Skyrim but I have been playing RPG games for over 20 year now, and I must say that Skyrim is probably one of the worst games I have encountered. Now, it could be because of the "openness" of the game itself, and my lack of understanding of the premise behind it... but I feel the execution of the quest system is broken. When you are given a quest, there is no simple way of knowing where to go, to whom you speak too, etc... sure, a symbol appears on the compass, but you have no indication as to how far that is from your current location (unless I have missed something). When you are on a quest, and you are trying to follow a path, most of the time they lead to block passages; mountains that can't be climbed; rivers that can't be crossed; or they are guarded by giants that can't be beat ( only @ level 3 with magic etc)..
I've been walking around for over 2 hours trying to find a path into Throat of the world so I can speak with the Greybeards, and unless I can swim up a waterfall, or fly over a mountain, I can't seem to find any way to the location. I've tried placing a temporary marker location on the map, and attempting to reach that, but I am challenged with the same problems. I would think that "paths" would be visible for the most part. And what is the use of the "local map" feature? This doesn't appear to provide any real details to the area you are in... (I'm on the xBox 360 if that helps with anything)...
ok go to the map. then unmark all quests. So that it is clean. Then first hit the button to highlight a catagory. then the subcatagory.....and then the only marker is the one to follow. No idea why you can't pass trough to find the grey beards. When i look at the map i can see where i have to go,and i teleport myself to the nearest location from the quest.....that is helgen. From there you walk to the greybeards.....easy
