reanimate dead any good?

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 1:40 pm

Hi everyone, Imm currently playing a battle mage, and things have changed from my origional build, and my battle mage now wields a conjured sword, and Im begging to think i need some sort of summon to distract and aid with harder enemies, as i get overwhelmed with melee, and destruction is good for weakening, but not amazing overall.

So, I was thinknig of investing in one part of the tree for a specific summon, is reanimate dead worthwhile or would it be better to get an atronarch?

thanks :)

Both are good. Personally I lean towards reanimate, its abit more tricky to use, but the payoff can be much higher.

It depends on the corpse you see. You want just the right one, dressed the right way with the right gear. Or abilities. You then want to ogle it as you command it to rise from the dead and slay its former allies. Or lecture at it about the follies of attacking a necromancer, after putting a dress on it and sending it out in public.

I'd get the Flame Atronach. She throws a mean fireball. I have it and can cast her double strength with dual casting. I have a Reanimate staff that Lydia uses and I constantly see Lydia's draugr and Lydia's wolf. They are tinged blue so you can tell the difference.

The problem is.. reviving weak enemies = weak summon. If you use the revanent spell to revive strong targets it makes little sense since the "strong" targets are bosses and at the end of dungeons. Too much work for my liking. I just summon an atronach and let it do work for me.

Atronach have better pathing and are easier to cast and use. The flame atron is good at distance, frost is good at blocking corridors and storm does both. A lot of my raised undead end up hiding behind a wall not doing much and die really fast or the corpse is too powerful to resurrect before its even had a chance.

I would suggest not using a flame atronach while using a follower. If the follower gets downed to one knee and the flame atronach dies next to your follower say goodbye to your follower.
