Reason this game svcks = Bad Netcode.

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 2:15 am

The reason this game lags is because of the way the Netcode has been written, However way you cut it, the Netcode in this game is medicore, Mediocre connections are no where near good enough for online play You need Excellent Hit detection and Excellent connections to even compete nowadays.

The Reason why this game was capped at 12 players was because the code Can't handle it, I know its a dead horse beaten but 12 Players and it still has medicore connections?

Crytek UK Failed Epicly on the multiplayer netcode. Why didn't Crytek just approach an Already good Game developers Netcode team and ask them to do that for them?

Take Halo: Reach for example, They have a 16 player Cap, but those 16 players all have Prestige near lagless connections, Why not approach they're team? why go and buy a failing company and employ them to do the full multiplayer? Who cares if its not all internal, Its good or bad netcode none the less and this will no - doubt put an end to the population online.

Can someone tell me if Netcode can be patched? From what I understand Netcode is what the multiplayer is built on and it doesn't seem patchable to me although I could be wrong so if someone could fill me in abit on that that would be great.

I'm not sure, Gears of War 2 had DISGRACEFUL netcoding, mainly due to ONE GUY, yes one guy doing it himself, Joe Graf was his name and he's a retard, anyway.
I think they lowered the maximum ping so that you find better hosts and I also think a region filter was added or increased, i'm not an expert in this -clearly- but that's the best example i can give you.
But to answer you strictly... I really do not know bro, let's hope they don't do a typical EA move and leave the game in the dust

They're stil ladvertising this game on tv though, so that could add some juice to the fact they're still sourcing effort into the game and might back the trading standards case if that goes ahead against Crytek And or EA.

You should learn to tell the difference between internet lag and Netcode problems.

I haven't had any lag issues with Crysis2 at all, Halo connections are some of the worst Lag in multiplayer so I really hope they don't modify their netcode to anything similar to that.

One thing I have noticed is that mostly people in the UK are complaining about Lag issues so possibly its a regional issue and not a netcode one. Possibly...

Reason this game svcks = Bad Netcode.

Well, actually, no. The game doesn't svck. The game is great really.

Multi-player on the other hand, not so much. That does svck. And the lag just makes it even worse. Why anyone would have bought this for multi-player in the first place though I really don't know.

I bought it for the multiplayer, and I do not regret it one bit. Great multiplayer that has some connection issues. I have been in a few games were the lag was really really bad, but for the most part it has been a great experience.

it is the netcode you idiot, as the netcode picks the host etc and sets up the games rules and if your shooting crap out of someone only to be killed by one or two bullets then its clearly the games coding is BAD

The games with the greatest netcode and don't use dedicated servers are the halo series and call of duty(for the most part)

Call of duty uses demonware netcode which is what alot of games used to use, now activision bought them so I assume they have exclusive access to the code and will not share it. It makes me angry that activision is basically ruining online gaming by becoming a monopoly. Its still peer2peer, but besides bungies netcode, its probably the best on the market today.

Since EA is a direct competitor to activision, there is no hope for any EA games having this good system.

Even when everybody in a game has all green bars the lag is still ridiculous.

Have you actually witnessed a match where everyone had 4 bars? :o I honestly didn't think that was possible in Crysis 2. The best I've seen is a match where two people had 4 bars. Other than that is mostly reds and yellows, with a sprinkling of yellowy greens now and then.
