Dont worry, the nerf system (perk system if you insist) still leaves a capped PC infinitely less versatile against his environment than the baseline system of Morrowind or Oblivion would.
That was the problem. In Oblivion, i had a Nord Warrior, a Argonian Mage, and a Dunmer Nightblade. I got all of them up to 100 in every skill eventually, and you know what? Gameplay wise, there was absolutely nothing at all that distinguished them from each other, besides Race. My Nord Warrior could match my Argonian Mage spell for spell, my Argonian Mage could go toe to toe against my Nord Warrior, and both could slink in the dark and assassinate just as well as my Dunmer Nightblade, while she could perform their roles just as well as they could.
Come Skyrim, i once again have a Nord Warrior, a Argonian Mage, and a Dunmer Nightblade. All of them are close to 100 in every skill again, but you know what? If my Argonian Mage tried going toe to toe with a Draugr Death Overlord or Legendary Dragon like my Nord Warrior does, he'd get eaten. My Nord Warrior can cast a few lower end cantrip spells before running out of Magicka, while my Argonian Mage can unleash a veritable spellstorm of destruction. Both seem to fall flat on their face when trying to stealth compared to my Dunmer Nightblade. My Dunmer Nightblade can't match the martial prowess of my Nord Warrior, nor the arcane might of my Argonian Mage, but she lies in between; a silent shadow that murders from the dark with either blade, bow or spell. My characters finally feel
different now.
