Receiving a Refund?

Post » Sat Oct 13, 2012 12:47 am

Now despite the countless issues experienced with Syrim for the PS3, I have grown to the point, as I am sure many others have, whereas receiving any downloadable content is surely out the window. I have gotten over the whole fiasco with the game practically not working at all for the first few months, I have also gotten over the fact that the constant freezing of the game damaged my Playstation to the point where I had to pay out of my own pocket to have it repaired. So far Skyrim has cost me much more than just the purchase of the game, but the fact that false advertising stating on the back of the Skyrim case there will be downloadable content available, and lets face it there isn't going to be, surely warrants a refund.

I am not angry or upset, I have just simply had enough and want my money back to at least cover a fraction of the cost of having to get my PS repaired through the damage caused by this game.

If Bethesda would be kind enough to either message me the information or simply post it on this thread for others who wish to do the same, it would be much obliged.

1. It is impossible for software to physically damage hardware. Your system broke probably due to normal use.

2. The box may say there will be downloadable content, but you are assuming that there never will be. There has been no official announcement to support this claim, and till that time, the box is not lying. That said, you must also consider that at the time the box was printed, there was clear plans for releasing DLCs on the Playstation, but the future of that is unknown. If they do end up not releasing any DLC, the box still isn't lying, as the box was printed before the hypothetical announcement.

3. Don't count on getting a refund through Bethesda.

Echonite, It actually is very common for software to brick hardware. Look at the 360 release of Unreal Tournament 3. The graphical power of that game was so advanced that it literally was the cause of many 360's overheating. I'm not saying that you are wrong, and it could very well be that the OP's PS was at least in part due to wear on the system, but you can't rule out the software aspect of it. Sometimes software causes all kinds of [censored] lol.

I would however agree that it will be unlikely to get a refund, but I say give it your best shot and good luck in the future. I too have had tremendous difficulties with Skyrim, though on the PC, to the point where it's unplayable.

It can damage the system. I took it too gamestation to be repaired and they said they have had several consoles in for the same reason. The way they explained it was when the game freezes its like driving a car and slamming on the brakes, it puts stress on the system and eventually if done enough, will break. Not to mention the fact that the PS was only 3 months old from new.

The chances of the downloadable content being brought out are slim to zero, either a definitve answer and date should be set for it release or they should stop beating around the bush and tell us its not happening. The fact that the game alone is still not running properly also warrants a refund. If I were to come round to your house and paint your bedroom but only do half of it and demand full price, surely you would not be satisfied and rufuse payment, if not, then you're a tool.

Thank you, this Echonite obviously is a big fan of Bethesda and thinks I am bashing on them. They create some incredible games but as stated before its not finished and as much as I would like a refund you are very right in the fact that I will probably never receive one but still, don't ask, don't get. Always worth a try.
