[REQ] Reclaiming Bandit Forts

Post » Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:11 am

Hey guys, so apologies if this idea has already been discussed/worked on, but I couldn't find anything on it. Something that really bothered me about vanilla Skyrim was how you couldn't permanently reduce the amount of bandits in the world - specifically, the ones occupying all the Forts in the game. In fact, both Imperial and Stormcloaks are in trouble if bandits decide to organize, because not only do they hold all their strategic locations but they outnumber them 2 to 1  .

Something I thought would be great is if you could not only permanently clear the forts (or at least permanently break the large groups that occupy them), but reclaim them for your respective faction - allow soldiers to reoccupy them, maybe add new patrols on the roads in that area, etc. It would give a really great sense of impact on the world, which is something I always look for. It could also be fun to have bandits try and "reclaim" the fort at times - or even better, war parties of the opposing Imperial/Stormcloak faction, adding more of a feeling of a real war.

I don't own a gaming PC and have never modded, so unfortunately I can't comment on the difficulty of pulling this idea off - but I would love to see someone try and take it on - I would if I could. Thanks!

This is generallyalong the lines of my Mod, below. Clear the Bandits in the Whiterun and Hjallmarch areas to open up the caravan route through Labyrinthian. It is not made into a quest, but that is where it is heading. I believe all the bandit targets listed in my Mod are clear-able, meaning that once they are cleared, they do not respawn, and in the case of Ft. Graymoor, one of the factions in the CW will take over (usually the Empire, when I play.) As far as modding difficulty, it took me about 6 months to get the mod where it is. I estimate another 6 months to get it where I want it to be (quests and follow on quests working).
