Recommended Class for first time?

Just wondering from those who've played, would a mage or a warrior get more out of the dlc in terms of new content? I have a warrior and mage, both medium level (around 25). The mage I like more from a gameplay standpoint but solstheim just seems like a more "warrior" place, and there might be more for my fighty fighter to find and do.

Don't need specifics (probably put specific items etc in spoiler tags), just people's experiences and thoughts, thanks :)

I'd go for a really really really strong mage, Because the Enemies are harder than the vanilla games.

I'm in the Warrior Stance though.

Do not play a Rogue with Light Armor, You will die :)

Lots of neat stuff for either a mage or a warrior. Just be sure, in either case, that you're tough and prepared.

I'm assuming that my level won't have much to do with it, or is there a lot of unleveled content?

From what people have said, higher seems to be better, as there are a lot of tough opponents. People have also reported getting unusually nice loot at lower levels so...whatever suits your playstyle best.

As a sneak type character on Master I found most of vanilla to be enjoyable but not overwhelmingly difficult, it may be a person to person experience but at level 68 I've found myself pulling a blade and healing often... The enemies seem to beg for head on confrontation.

I played as a rouge. A nord sneaky archer dual wielder and did not die, although I was level 44 and had to go from adept to apprentice. I almost died a few times. But the challenge was there. it is not he single enemies, it is the gangs of enemies.

I've always had a paladin main character in all TES games, but that's just me, I love rockin' the sword and board on my main man! :P
Maybe a heavy armored battlemage or a stealth-heavy dual one-hander thief would work as well (which are my other two classes (lol))

But yeah, a Paladin - A tank of a warrior who also is skilled in Alchemy, Enchanting, and all forms of Restoration.

As far as level scaling goes, there's alot that is and is not. Alot of the dungeons are not scaled, so going into a falmer infested cave at level 10 could get your face eaten off by some angry charrus. Anyway you look at it, it all boils down to personal preference and whether or not you know your class well or just want to hack and slash your way through the first time then really play the game 100% the second time. (My very first class in Skyrim and Oblivion was a dark elf two handed warrior)

Amen to that.

Testing it out, with my warrior (heavy armor, 2h and restoration) I had to bring it down to adept for the first ash baddies in the temple to be doable. Not sure what that means for the rest of the dlc but I think I'll stick with warrior for now, the same way i wa last time I was in Solstheim :)

I went through as light armor, combat archer. Just dodged a lot, & was very careful with my shots. I didn't have too much trouble. But it's definitely noticeably more difficult than vanilla.
