Redguard Battlemage

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 7:22 am

I started playing a Redguard dual wielder (right now orc axe and steel sword) with heavy armor and decided that I want to throw in magic to assist. I'm only level 5 and I would like advice on what magic schools/perks you think would be good for this type of character.

So far I've focused on health and stamina, but put 1 level into magicka. I was thinking of using mainly alteration for shields and conjuration for bound weapons and summoned creatures. But was thinking I might need Restoration as well.

I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

So far (im playing an orc mage, on master difficulty) Im level 17 i think with 300 magic 160 ish hp and 100 stamina. I've not touched stamina due to how much spells cost.

I would say build yourself a decent ammount of magika up before going into health / stamina

Conjuration, Able to cast two and less mana cost element branch
One handed___ Only up to extra damage with power attacks
Pick pocket___ Only for +100 carry
Restoration___ Heal restores 50%, heal restores stamina, novice one over time seems good enough

Only things I would care to go for so far.

Light armor has a +50% stamina buff
But heavy armor has better weapons when it comes to damage
So if you go smithing it's either stamina or better weapons and defense
Enchanting and alchemy benefit each other in a weird way that you make upgrade then use those upgrade forms to keep upgrading

I just went with Breton. Lizard, Tall Elf also seem good choices.
Around lv40 with 300ma, 220hp, 200sta

Would you go alteration for the shield buffs? or is that over the top with Heavy Armor?

I'm not sure, but isn't there wards in Restoration that damage others while in melee (kind of like the Dark Elf Ancestral power?). I thought that might be good to use as well. Thoughts?
