Reduced Carrying Capacity?

Post » Fri Dec 21, 2012 11:19 pm

I'm looking for a mod that reduces starting carrying capacity, but the trouble is that all the mods I can find that do this add additional unwanted features or are out-of-date and don't work around the race record issues caused by recent official patches. Does anybody know of a mod that works with the latest version of Skyrim that does nothing but substantially lower the character's starting carrying capacity?

Also, if this mod does not yet exist, I'd be happy to make and release it if someone could explain where these values are found in the creation kit. I'm also not sure what you have to do to safely edit race records, so someone would also have to explain that to me. Thanks for any help I get!

I had the same problem, but then realized that it is so easy to do with the console, that it seemed silly to further clutter up my load order with a mod to do this. Also from what I understand, doing so requires changes to the race records (which is where the value is stored), which would mean compatibility issues.

So what I do now when creating a new character, is just open up the console and use:

player.forceav carryweight #

...with the # being whatever I want my new carryweight to be. It is important to note that this will change you carryweight to that specifically, not just the base value. So when doing so, take off any items that increase your carry capacity, and also take into account any increases that you have from leveled-up stamina, etc. I always find it best to do when starting a new character, as soon as I have access to the console.
