The Goonies

Edit: Think about it. You're walking along with Boone, and you come across a gas station with a Nuka Cola fridge out front. "Phew, I'm thirsty" (He rifles through the fridge) "........dammit"

As I understand it, Josh Sawyer is not into the whole over-the-top pop culture referencing. He talks about it in a interview I read somewhere. And apparently he feels (along with a section of the Fallout community) that there was wayyyyy too much silly humour and pop culture jokes in Fallout 2. So they will be taking them out, unless you take the Wild Wasteland trait (or something like that). That said, I kind of agree with Josh - the jokes kind of reinforce the idea I am playing a game and ruin my immersion. I'll take that trait my second time through. Also note that, assuming the max two traits remains, taking the Wild Wasteland trait for the jokes means you can't take a second trait.

Probably won't happen but references to Evil Dead series (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn, and my favorite Army Of Darkness) We could have a temporary companion for quest named Ash and maybe we could be trying to find the Necronomicon an even have to recite "Klaatu barada nikto" to remove it safely, Why not a custom sawed off shotgun called the "Boomstick"? :tops:

A pop-culture reference does not have to be over the top.
It can be very subtle it they choose to.

Maybe you have to play/read/see the media to understand what it is a reference to but I honestly couldn't find that many pop-culture references in FO2.
I have no idea what people complain about there. >_>

Book Of Eli was a really bad film IMO.
*hides behind chest high wall*

(But don't mind me I'm still just a bit annoyed at back when people said "Book Of Eli is like Fallout The Movie!"...)

It was a film that tried to be deep but couldn't resist itself from having cool-guy action sequences to reach the frat-boy crowd IMO.

Or in short, overrated.
(I guess overrated is kinda out of context here... Meh, still found it overrated.)

Oh and I'm not the biggest fan of the book he's carrying either or the whole meaning of the film in the end.
But let's not go into that, it's against forum rules to discuss that in detail.

I agree it was overrated but almost all movies now-a-days are. I thought it was a good movie but not great.

EDIT:The whole "Fallout movie" thing pissed me off too.

I want a reference to "The Hangover"!

Best. Movie. Ever.

Random tiger skeleton in a bathroom maybe?
Guy dead on roof with a matress and plenty of money?

Something along those lines.
