Regarding the "textures look worse now"

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:00 pm

The games bugs have been pissing me off as of late, and I didn't really trust Bethesda with this update, and I've been reading all the hooplah regarding the latest patch on here from work.

So when i got home, I unplugged my PS3 from the net, loaded up Skyrim one last time, and made a couple more back-up save games, just in case, then went around the specific dungeon I was in, nice and close to all the textures, to my companion / follower, etc. I took a nice mental note. And saved the game one last time with a nice close-up of my characters face.

Plugged back in my net cable, restarted the PS3 and game and let it update to the new patch.

And guess what? The graphics / textures are identical....

So yeah, don't read into the comments too much till you've tried it yourself. go into the game one last time before you update and take a mental note yourself.

My guess as to why some people think the textures look worse... is because the game still has similar low-res texture issues as the Xbox 360 version has. These existed before this latest patch (for me at least), certain pieces of armour would remain in the low-res format, and look blurry and ugly in my menu, or on certain other characters in the game. It was a bug that was already in the game. People complaining that the text is now blurrier or harder to read, are either making it up or having a severly biased reaction to the patch.

As for the "Lag" / frame-rate issue, I haven't noticed any choppiness yet, but I also haven't played more than 30 minutes. We Shall see.

Reminds me of "LOL MY GAME IS FINE" comments from the first days after the game released.

Yah, I'm still wondering why nobody has Youtube'd us some proof. I'd do it, but I'm still at work.

Thank you for elaborating on what I have already said. People are so weird in these forums, telling me "I need my eyes checked". NO DIFFERENCE.

Please go troll elsewhere. It's like people want the game to be broken and stay broken, this person gave their own experience. The end.

I have yet to install the patch, but to be quite honest all bugs aside my lag wasn't that bad. No more than any usual Bethesda game, which is bad in itself, but by no means was my game ever unplayable. When it was I simply had to get off the horse, problem solved but not fixed. Will be interesting to see how the patch is, I really don't expect much difference.

Exactly. Someone should make a video or screenshots so we can compare them with the game's pre-patch graphics. Right now, I still think those who are saying the graphics look worse are probably looking more colsely now, because they are afraid the patch might have changed something for the worse. I'm not calling anyone a liar, but this is a rather difficult matter because it depends on people's perception to a large extent...

It was the literally the first thing I noticed. It's like the sharpness has been taken out the textures. I thought it was my eyes at first but they do look worse.

Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the game? Maybe it didn't install properly.
I haven't patched mine yet, but I will tomorrow...and if the graphics look worse after the patch, I'm seriously gonna buy the 360 version, even though I swore not toT_T

It's not massively different but it was enough for me to notice straight away and that was before I came on the forum and saw other people saying the same as I was thinking.
