|RELZ| Blues Radio NV - new radio station!

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:45 am

Players come and go so I dont know how many of you remember my original Blues Radio station for Fallout 3. Either way It is now available for NEW VEGAS, rebuilt from scratch to avoid any possible glitches. I tested it, ran around, seems to work great.

Get it here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37493

Please endorse, recomend, link, youtube, etc. Obviosly I dont gain anything from it but it makes me really happy to see people downloading and using the mod.

-------------- Track Listing ---------------

Billy Lyons & Stack-O-Lee - Furry Lewis
Frankie – Mississippi John Hurt
Guitar Blues – Lonnie Johnson
K.C. Moan – Memphis Jug Band
Standing On the Corner (Blue Yodel) – Jimmie Rodgers
Devil Got My Woman – Skip James
C.C. Rider – Lead Belly
Cross Road Blues – Robert Johnson
Shake ‘Em On Down – Bukka White
Catfish Blues – Robert Petway
Cross Cut Blues – Tommy McClennon
Evil Gal Blues – Lionel Hampton sixtet with Dinah Washington
Downtown Blues - Frank Stokes
Dark Was The Night, Cold was the Ground - Blind Willie Johnson
Canned Heat Blues - Tommy Johnson
Black Snake Moan - Blind Lemon Jefferson
Dirty Mother For you - Roosevelt Sykes
Key To The Highway - Big Bill Broonzy
Worried Life Blues - Big Maceo Merriweather
Honeydripper pt1 - Joe Liggins

q: Does it replace anything?

a: Nope, it is a new station hidden somewhere in Black Mountain and should play all over the map next time you load your game.

q: Does it have a DJ?

a: Sorry, but even the best DJ's get on my nerves after a while, so it is pure music. Also songs are selected randomly but it will never play the same song twice in a row.

q: Why is the file so big?

a: Sorry about that... WAV files seem to perform better on most machines than MP3 do.

How to instal:
Extract contents to your Data folder.

Special Thanks:
The Real Neraverine for doing it first and doing it well.

Giskarduk for the tutorial without which I would still be stuck.

Rekiker for also making a radio tutorial.

Wow, thanks for this mod. I really love blues (especially the old styles), so it's nice to hear some in F:NV.
Do you plan on extending the playlist? What about Willie Dixon, Memphis Slim or Muddy Waters to name some?

Downloading now...

Sounds great, maybe add some Son House? Or Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf etc.

Can't wait to walk the wastes while Cross Road Blues plays :tops:

Sounds good. Always happy to see radio stations offering different styles - more variety helps break things up a bit when wandering the wasteland aimlessly! :)

Huge fan of Muddy, Howling Wolf, etc... but I'm trying to keep it public domain and accoustic for now. I am looking forward to expanding it to 30 tracks soon, just gonna take my time though and convert a few other old mods to NEW VEGAS for practice.

This is important to stress on any radio mod that one will distribute that the music needs to be Public Domain, or one has cleared the Copywright and have proof of that. Fortunately, a good deal of music from the era falls into Public Domain, but not all of it. And some music that was in the Public Domain may not be anymore, so just check it out and make sure.

Of course a personal radio mod can have whatever music in it you want, only when you go to distribute do you have to worry about Lawyers and such. :)

How exactly does someone find out if a song is public domain? I've always wondered how to do this :)

Quick question on that, what kind of proof would be necessary here? I've got a radio mod in mind and I'd be interested in knowing.

Honestly you could do a Metallica station for your own listening and be fine. Heck, you could probably distribute it without any legal action since it is only 1000 or so downloaders... but communities do frown on such things so exercise judgement.

Personally I did a station with the Red Elvises (that one will be next) and went back and forth via email, obtaining permission from them. That was a great experience, not only did I get to make my mod but I was a little star struck in the process.

And PintoCat! Nice to see you still around!
