Remap Keybinds

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 3:23 pm

Hey,

How can it be that you are not allowed to remap ALL keybinds? It's the same problem I had in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Yes, you can remap movement keys and some others. But not something like Take Everything or close the inventory (in Fallout 3 you could remap the Pib Boy key to open it but still only close it with the standard key). How can you miss something that easy every time? Can't be so hard to programm. I still loved Fallout and will enjoy Skyrim too. But as a left handed persons this is really annoying! How can you miss something like that in so many games? It's 2011... there should be some minimum standards in AAA titles.

I know this is a bit rude but I'm really pissed right now. I wouldn't even care if it was a bad game, I would just return it. I know you don't care about the problems of a single customer but I had to get it of my chest.

Please excuse my bad english. I'm not a native speaker.

ps: Sill can't Alt + Tab out of the game without crashing it. Like in Fallout and New Vegas (but this could also be a Steam problem).

What really svcks is not being able to bind keys to the keypad. And yes, not being able to rebind all the keys stinks too. I don't want to have to go all the way across the keyboard and press tab every single time I want to close a book or whatever, horrible game design, just horrible.

Being lefthanded, yes i know we are hated by the gamedevelopers, i have used the numpad for several years. With numpad i get alot of options to quickly get things done. Imagine my surprise when i tried to remap the keys...: "The button is reserved"......WHAT!!! I thought this was 2011, not 1981.....I cant see any good reason for key reservation, at ALL. I went from eager like a kid, to angry advlt in one second. PLEASE Bethesda, give us, the few but brave, a patch or some advice to use ALL keys as we want :)

Just found out that some keys while crafting don't work. I have to klick on the letter in the lower right corner. Pressing the indicated button doesn't do anything. This isn't a problem with most buttons but with some. And that is even the standard button which can't be changed.

its a console port.

You can rebind favorites. but you cannot assign favorites using the newly assigned key, and you still have to use the default key to close the favorites list. REALLY stupid.

Also, if you change the sheathe key, it changes the "R to drop item" in inventory to whatever you bound 'sheathe/unsheathe' to, which makes no sense.

Bethesda has been doing this since morrowind. I bought a reprogrammable keyboard based on what program I am running and solved my problem permanently in that regard. It was only $70 and I have had it for years. Always handy and can use txt files so you can load keybinds off the internet for games.

But i shouldn't have to buy a 70$ piece of hardware just to play the game properly.

Bump !

SOS devs...
Key binding is completely messed up.
Can't drop objects from inventory, can't use fav hotkeys, no numpad support, etc, etc, etc, etc...
We need a patch omfg.

PS : TES V seems to be awesomely good, but keybinding was coded with feet, and UI menus are... The worst I have ever seen oO

Agreed that this is really annoying, especially because this has been a problem since morrowind already.

Is it possible to tweak in the config file or are the keypad keys not recognized anyway ? Shame...
